Getting There

  • Car

    From Cunningham Falls State Park, start by heading south on Catoctin Hollow Road (MD-77) for approximately 4 miles until you reach the intersection with US-15. Turn left onto US-15 South and continue for about 9 miles. Take the exit toward I-270 South. Merge onto I-270 South and keep driving for approximately 10 miles. Take exit 4A to merge onto MD-187/Rockville Pike toward Bethesda. Continue on MD-187 for about 5 miles. Turn right onto MacArthur Blvd, and after about 1 mile, you will arrive at the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park, located at 11710 Macarthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854.

  • Public Transportation

    From Cunningham Falls State Park, you will first need to take a taxi or rideshare service to the nearest public transit station, which is the Frederick MARC Train Station. Once there, board a MARC Train on the Brunswick Line heading towards Washington, D.C. After approximately 35-40 minutes, get off at the Rockville station. From Rockville, transfer to the Ride On bus (Route 34) towards Potomac. Disembark at the stop closest to MacArthur Blvd, and walk about 10-15 minutes to reach the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park at 11710 Macarthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854.
