Catherine was a brilliant guide and told us lots of interesting facts about Mdina. We loved seeing the city at night and the food we had was all delicious and tasty. Would highly recommend this tour 🫶🏻

What a great introduction to Malta. Lorraine was our guide and was welcoming, attentive, and overall excellent. We felt very taken care of. Walking in the evening is magnificent, with everything lit up. Food was great. Highly recommend to anyone, and even if you went to Mdina in daytime, do it at night also.

I had very high hopes based on the reviews for this private tour, but ended up very disappointed overall. First off, we were picked up in Valletta for an extra fee, which was fine, but our driver to Mdina knew nothing of our tour or who we were meeting or where. He dropped us off a Mdina and drove away, leaving us with no way to contact our guide. Fortunately, we found her a few minutes later. She was very, very nice and quite knowledgeable. As a native Maltese, the best part of the tour was talking to her about Malta culture, history, language, and life in Malta. She gets 5 stars. But the food was the issue. As a history and food tour, I assumed that this tour would be geared more for foodies, looking to explore authentic food. And, yes, while we did that - to a degree - it wasn't of the quality we had hoped, and certainly not for €400. The first place was a cute street pastizzi place, where we had 2 pastizzi and a soda. Maybe €15 tops. That was fine. Then we walked through Mdina, which was informative, and stopped at a packed restaurant to have cake. Cake?? What about dinner? The cake was merely OK, and we didn't actually want it, but we didn't have a choice. €8.40. We passed a number of restaurants in converted homes that looked quite nice and delicious, but no, we walked all the way to Rabat and our guide took us to a sports bar. Fluorescent lights. Cheap tables, no ambiance. We were literally the only people in the place. Sadly, there was a very nice looking restaurant directly downstairs, but that's not where we ate. They served us a typical Maltese salad (olives, sundried tomatoes, sausage, beans, pea paste, pan con tomate) and a glass of wine. €25, maybe. Almost everything was insanely salty. Then our guide left, saying that our driver would pick us up across the street. We were a bit shocked. We ate our food in the empty restaurant, and then our driver called saying he was at the Mdina gate and where were we?? He was nice enough to come get us and he actually ended up being the highlight of the tour, as he gave us wonderful suggestions for food and wine in Valletta and beyond. Thanks for that! So we paid nearly €400 for €50 worth of OK food and a nice walking tour of Mdina. Nope, not worth it. Sorry, I wish I could say otherwise.

This is advertised as a bus tour with food along the way and multiple stops. What I received was a walking tour of Valletta and street food from food trucks. 2 strawberries from a street market. and one glass of wine. it was not as advertised. and WAY OVERPRICED for what we received.

The food tour was wonderful and our guide was fantastic. Perfect blend of Malta history and food tasting. Truly enjoyed.

The tour guide was excellent but some of the local foods were not available. My main reason for the the poor score was the administration of the service which was a disaster. It is unfortunate because it could have been much more enjoyable experience. Basically, Viator messed up the pickup location and I wasted time on the phone to salvage the situation. In the end the tour started an hour later and fortunately we had no other time commitments. If one had to make a boat departure it is possible the delay would have devastated the rest of your trip. What made matters worse Viator made me pay for a taxi to fix their error, whereas it clearly stated in my confirmation that all transfer expenditures were included. I strongly discourage anyone to consider using Viator and strongly recommend to avoid them.

Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He was personable and made our experience very enjoyable.

We booked a food tasting tour with this company based on the good reviews we read. It was a total disappointment for our family. This was an evening tour that took us through the Rabat/Mdina area. The tour guide showed up on time and did a great job telling us about the history of the two towns. However the “food tasting” part is misleading. The tour shouldn’t have been advertised as such, and the high cost is completely unjustified. We had one pastizzi/person (costs $0.5), two sweets, coffee and a stale tuna sandwich (called ftira). All purchased by the tour guide from cheap local stores. Previous reviews indicated a three course meal at a restaurant with a local folklore dance. We didn’t have any of that. We could have easily learned the history of the two towns through a group walking tour, which would have cost a fraction of what we paid this company for the so called “food tasting tour”. My husband reached out to the owner Chris to express our disappointment, he didn’t seem to care much. We had originally planned on doing the Gozo tour with this company but canceled it after our bad experience with this tour.

We went on the food tour of Mdina/Rabat with My Dream Malta and had a truly miserable experience. Most of the trip was going to restaurants and being told they're closing or have run out of food, or visiting hole-in-the-wall bakeries and getting a few cheap sweets. The agency didn't seem to have planned any of the stops in advance, and the guide was just winging it. Our dinner, obtained from the only place that would give us food, was a stale tuna ftira that two of our party couldn't even eat. When we communicated with Chris, presumably the company owner, he blamed it on the usual restaurant he used having closed down. He wasn't in the slightest bit apologetic about the poor experience. Clearly he didn't care enough about his clients to have planned any reasonable alternative. We promptly cancelled a second tour we had booked with My Dream Malta after returning from this one. We booked this tour based on the great reviews this company has on various sites. Be warned, it seems that this company has stopped caring about providing a good experience and is relying on past reviews to bring in unsuspecting people.
