A fantastic introduction to Indian street food. We wouldn’t have had the confidence to try so many different foods. We had 14 in all; savoury and sweet as well as a hot drink in 3 different areas of Mumbai. It was an added bonus taking the local train to our first stop: Chowpatty Beach. Rishi, our guide, was very professional yet so friendly. He explained each dish and although we had more than enough we were always offered more. I enjoyed 90% of the dishes but that was only due to my personal taste. Each one has been selected from trusted street vendors who use purified water. Another bonus was to understand that 80% of our payment would go towards education in the Dharavi Slum. Rishi provided us with constant hand sanitizer and napkins for our peace of mind. All in all a highly-recommended tour for anyone visiting Mumbai.
Eating in places you would not normally go to and getting a real understanding about life and food in Mumbai.
Wonderful street food tour. Our guide was Nilesh (sp?). He was fantastic! Our group was wonderful also. This tour was professional and such a highlight of our trip! Our guide definitely made the tour as great as it was-so informative and we learned so much from him-he is a gem!
We have travelled to India a few times but have always been wary of the street food. Not really wanting to get an upset stomach. This experience totally put our minds at rest as we were informed of the hygiene checks that are done on the vendors in advance. Must say the food was amazing and we got to try so many different things. Really glad we did the street food tour and would highly recommend.
Really nice guide, you have around 14 different dishes at different stopps, including drinks, ice cream and muslim food. It comes in little amount, so it's just the right amount without over eating (eventhough you always get the chance to order seconds). It's a great way to learn and to become more confident in ordering Streetfood on your own. The price is a bit high, but you get a lot and 80% of the earnings go into supporting education projects in the Dharavi slums
We had an amazing time on this tour! Jana our guide was not only friendly, knowledgeable (happy to share about anything), but also helpful.
The food, as many other reviews mentioned is delicious. It comes fast at every location, and you can eat as much as you want. And writing this at 3 days after our tour, I can say for certain that it caused 0 stomach issues. After the tour officially ended, Jana still went out of his way to get me carrot halwa (which I had mentioned I wanted to try but wasn't part of the itinerary).
Communication with the tour agency was prompt and Jana even helped our driver find the drop off point. They even helped us hail a taxi back to our hotel. We were definitely taken care of us amidst the craziness of Mumbai. A+ customer service all around!
Excellent guide and well planned sampling of various food types from street vendors and local restaurants. Definitely save your appetite beforehand for this one! You will burn some of it off, though, with lots of walking between various locations! Highly recommended if you want to get a good variety of local food made freshly.
Very good food tour, the food was lovely and Raj was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Navigating the traffic on foot is a bit hair raising but that’s all part of the fun!
We wanted to do this tour first after arriving in Mumbai in order to learn more about what to eat and where to eat. Janna, our guide, provided a fantastic crashcourse for us! We had the opportunity to taste around 15 different dishes, all very tasty and safe. We recommend this tour to anyone that wants to learn more about Mumbai street food. If you can, do this early, that way you will be able to keep eating from the same stalls for the remaining of your stay(knowing that they are safe). That is what we did.
Our excellent guide Janna (who came with an accompanying guide-in-training) enthusiastically showed us a variety of spots, starting with a picnic on Chowpatty Beach and followed by a sit-down restaurant and the Muslim Quarter. Janna kindly towed my heavy suitcase around for me for most of the tour, as I had just arrived from the airport. My only complaint is that there was so much food available we couldn't come close to eating everything!
