On the drive to the landing you we will enter into the Francis Marion National Forest. We will turn onto a Forest Service road and travel for 3 miles. On the drive we pass through a Wildlife Management Area were organizations like the US Forest Service and SC Department of Natural Resources manage and study the land. This is a prime example of a healthy habitat for the endangered longleaf pine and Red-cockaded Woodpecker. You can also see deer, turkey, wild pig, plenty of bird and reptile species, and more.
