Your Itinerary

Agamont Park

Begin at the beginning with tales from the indigenous peoples who once called the area home. Some ancient monster sightings from the Wabanaki Confederacy's oral tradition curiously align with more contemporary accounts of encounters with unknown animals.

Reading Room Restaurant

The Bar Harbor Inn was the scene of contemporary ghost reports and once the site of a private club for wealthy gentlemen called The Reading Room. One of the club's members, although not really a Ghostbuster, helped pave the way for authentic parapsychological research.

Shore Path

Ghost stories abound along this scenic walkway as well as spectacular views of famous landmarks including the Egg Rock Lighthouse and Balance Rock. It's also the perfect setting for spooky seafaring yarns, tales of Maine's haunted lighthouses, and reports of a local sea serpent.

Balance Rock Inn

Long a playground for the rich and famous, the history of Bar Harbor’s mansions is steeped in scandal, mystery, and intrigue including astounding accounts of hauntings and one legendary curse. One such haunted estate has now become the Balance Rock Inn once the home of two little girls pestered by an annoying ghost.

St. Saviour's Episcopal Church

Pay your respects at the historic graveyard of St. Saviour's Episcopal Church established in 1790. Mainly populated with tombstones dating back to the 19th Century, this cemetery may not be haunted, but is the setting for more than one extraordinary story.

The Ledgelawn Inn

One of the original grand summer estates in Bar Harbor and more recently an inn, Ledgelawn now serves as housing for seasonal employees. Discover the reason a star-crossed woman in white haunts the property. Unlike countless similar specters this ghost has a ghost reason for wearing white.

The Central House

Discover a former inhabitants connection to the Hope Diamond, a possession both coveted and dreaded. This cursed gem has a long history for attracting death and destruction. Learn about the tragedies which earned the treasure its bad reputation before and after it arrived on Mount Desert Island.

Criterion Theater

Like many vintage cinemas and performance venues this historic theater has its own ghostly lore. What makes this destination unique are its scandalous historical secrets as well as its peculiar Silver Screen specters such as the glowing green ghost said to wander backstage.

Bar Harbor Club

Now an exclusive retreat for the rich, this location was once the home of swimming club called Pemetic Lodge. By the 1920s, it became a prestigious private club for the country’s wealthiest men including that most famous robber baron of the Gilded Age J.P. Morgan. In 1980s, the abandoned building became a breeding ground for dire, local folklore.

Doug was a great guide. We learned lots of history of Bar Harbor. Great stories of ghosts that have been seen in the town. We try to find a ghost tour when we visit anew town. Highly recommend this tour.

Very informative and spooky tour of Bar Harbor! We got to see historic buildings and learn about some curses/hauntings. Perfect thing to do on Halloween night!

Doug was a great storyteller. Informative, polite and punctual. A message must do in Bar Harbor. ****

While my husband and I are in our mid-seventies we are avid hikers and walkers and had no worry about doing the two miles. This was a night tour. After we left the park, we headed on a pathway along the shore using a flashlight to be sure of our footing. When we turned the corner, we had no idea where the group went. The leader had no light to enable us to spot him, as is often done on other ghost tours. Rather than getting lost we headed back to town. So, we actually wasted our money. I do not think he realized we were not still with him.

This was…not what I expected. It wasn’t even a little spooky. The guide walked us around, pointed to things, told us this place was haunted or that place was haunted, but we weren’t even allowed to go inside any of these supposedly haunted places. We left early - didn’t keep our attention.

Was really fun with the ghost of bob ross leading the pack, learning about the history of Bar Harbor.

Lots of opportunity for improvements… timeline, point of reference, story delivery could be improved

Ok ghost tour. We went in the afternoon. Wouldn’t do that again. Ghost tour are more realistic at night.

The tour was a blast, we learned a lot about the rich and paranormal history of Bar Harbor. Our tour guide Abby was very knowledgeable and had a few personal spooky stories she shared. If you have some time I would definitely recommend it.

We highly recommend this ghost walk through Bar Harbor! Our guide Abby is a local and gave us real accounts of the experiences she and people she knew have had. She also gave us history of the area, walked us through some beautiful areas we wouldn’t have seen otherwise, and gave us suggestions of things to do during our visit. We’ve been on many ghost tours across the country, and this one stands out because of the real personal accounts by a friendly, local, and knowledgeable guide. Thank you Abby!
