Smooth, problem free trip from start to finish. Booked this trip through TripAdvisor after reading the reviews for my 14 year old son and I. Communication was excellent through WhatsApp from Thomas. He send us details of our closest pick up/drop off point to our hotel (which was a 6 minute walk from our hotel). Thomas also messaged us about proving a lunch box (extra cost), but we elected to buy our own food the previous day from the many corner shops around Kraków. We were collected at 705 am from the meeting point is a silver grey Mercedes minibus by Thomas. There was one more collection point after ours resulting in about 12 passenger (including ourselves) for the trip. A 1hr 30 minute journey through nice countryside (with an informative historical documentary being played on the minibus tv system) and we were at Auschwitz. Thomas was met by our female English speaking tour guide, we were given yellow stickers (for our tops to identify our group), our entry tickets and shown into the airport style security at the main reception. After our bags/belongings and ourselves being scanned, a quick toilet stop and then we walked into a room and given headphone and receiver packs. Our female guide (apologies I didn't get her name), made sure we were all on the same channel before commencing the tour. The tour was approximately three hours around Auschwitz which took in the majority of the camp and some of the buildings. All the while our guide telling us the history and the relevance of what we were looking at or what the building that we were in was used for. She was extremely respectful of the surroundings and with the information she passed us. When the tour ended, we handed in our headphones and reception packs, another toilet stop and back to the mini bus for lunch (15 - 20minutes). After a seven mile journey, we arrived at Auschwitz Birkenau. We parked in the car park and a short walk to the entrance of the Birkenau camp. Again, we were met by our female English speaking guide who took us through the entrance and into the camp. She showed us around the camp, telling us the history, what we were looking at and the function of each of the buildings, landmarks etc. This took approximately 1 hour. We then made our way back to the minibus. The return journey, again, took approximately 1hr 30 minutes. Thomas asked which of the three meeting/drop off points we each wanted to be dropped off. We elected for the same point we were collected from. However, you could elect for one of the other two points, if you had more siteseeing or shopping to do. Tips for the trip:- 1. Wear comfortable supportive footwear. Alot of the ground is uneven around both camps. You will do alot of walking! The stairs in alot of the buildings are uneven, being worn down from all the visitors. 2. Passports - you need to take them with you for entry into both camps. 3. Bags - please check the official website for the size of bags allowed through into Auschwitz. Larger bags, coats, lunch etc can be kept on the minibus. Overall, a very smooth and well organised trip to Auschwitz and Auschwitz Birkenau.

It was a memorable experience that makes you think about humanity and it's actions. Excellent guide who made it clear what happened here during the war.

A very well organised trip from start to finish and a very fair price. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative. Naturally the visit itself was very sad and thought provoking, and made one wonder what sort of insanity must have taken place.

Such a smooth process from start to finish. The tour company was in contact the day before with an exact time and location for our pick up, and our driver was friendly and communicated clearly. Our guide at Auschwitz was also excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the appropriate level of professionalism and respect shown by all parties during this visit.

Pickup from hotel was on time. 9 in the van with movie on the way . Excellent tour guide with good English. Bathroom stops . Lunch looked great but our hotel provided ours as we had breakfast included that we couldn’t make. Would highly recommend this tour.

Alice_C

Very interesting and informative tour. Lunch provided for small cost and transport there and back with no issue.

It’s a must do visit, the tour takes about 3.5hours over 2 sites, you need to take photo ID to gain entry with your tickets as you go through what can only be described as airport security. Take a snack as there are only vending machines for coffee and crisps etc which are expensive. The tour is very humbling and informative, the guides very knowledgable.

This was my second visit to Auschwitz. For my first visit, where I took my elderly parents, it was absolutely packed and we were walked at a blistering pace and the tour guide was not particularly sympathetic to my parents needs. Not good for frailer people and I must say, it hindered me being able to totally absorb everything as I was worrying about my parents. However, this time, it was far less busy and we were able to move at a slower pace, and the tour guide, Sofia, was excellent. I was so moved. It is definitely something I would recommend for everyone to do at least once in their lifetime. It is pot luck about the amount of tourists and the speed at which you tour though.
