Rathaus

Vienna City Hall is the seat of local government, located on Rathausplatz in the Innere Stadt district.

Rathaus

The ancient gathering place “Marktplatz” and town hall (Rathaus). Originated from the year 1304, the marketplace is situated in front of the city hall. After the destruction from the Second World War, this square was rebuilt at the request of Lord Mayor.

Markthalle

Located centrally in the city, Markthalle is an Art Nouveau building. Consisting of a hall which is 60 meters long and 25 meters wide, this food paradise consists of 33 different stalls with numerous service providers and dealers.

Schillerplatz

Named in the honor of the great German poet, philosopher, historian, and dramatist “Friedrich Schiller”, this square is located centrally in the old city. It is also surrounded by the Collegiate Church and the Fruchtkasten building (which houses the Ministry of Justice and the Old Chancellery.

Palace Square

Constructed between 1746 and 1807, this is the largest square. Until the mid-1800s, it was used for military training purposes as a parade ground and was not available for public use. It transformed into a public property in 1918.
