Santa Maria delle Grazie

Our accredited tour guide will meet travelers at Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazie,1 and will introduce them the beautiful Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazie and its buildings: the church Santa Maria delle Grazie and the building where the Last Supper is located that in XV th century was the refectory of the Domenican Monastery.

Il Cenacolo

Leonardo's masterpiece, the Last Supper, one of the world's greatest painted masterpieces occupies the end wall of the previous refectory of the XVth century Domenican Monastery. Painted by Leonardo between 1495 and 1498 portrays the Apostoles seated together with Jesus when Jesus announced that one of them would betray him. The Disciples' emotion transpiresfrom their gestures, mouvements and faces and contrasts with the apparent immobility of Christ who dominates the centre of a rigously symmetrical composition in perfect perspective. The painting was miraculously untouched by the August 1943 bombings which damaged the nearby cloister and part of the church.

I have visited Milan many times. I had tried to visit the Da Vinci painting without success as due to work I could not find tickets at the last minute. This time I succeeded. The truth is that there is a very good organization with the groups of visitors. Unfortunately, each group only has 15 minutes to stay in the area and take pictures and listen to the story from the guide. Nevertheless, it is something every visitor should do as you will be rewarded with the feeling that such a famous work is still possible to see up close. It is indeed worth visiting.

This was my number one priority to see on my trip and it was such a big disappointment. Our tour was with Get Your Guide and we waited in the courtyard trying to find our guide who we were told would hold up a sign. She NEVER did, but our driver spotted her holding something red and connected us. She was unfriendly, unwelcoming and unenthusiastic and we later discovered (at the Da Vinci museum where they have all DaVinci’s notebooks) that she even gave us incorrect information.

Canceled 3 days before the day of the tour. Booked one month in advance. How can I find 6 tickets with that time frame for my family and I. Viator support even tried to help, but could not find another tour. This seller should not be here. Reserved in February for March 2024.

Our tour guide was so helpful, even before our tour. I sent a question asking about a small suitcase that I had to bring with me. She politely answered immediately and informed me that there was a safe place to leave it while we were on the tour. I couldn’t remember where our meeting spot was and asked her that as well. She replied with kindness and was so helpful. We found out things that we didn’t know about the The Last Supper. She was knowledgeable, prepared and friendly. A worthy tour!! Thank you sweet lady!!

These were harsd tickets to book and you need to get them as soon as they become available. The ticket price includes a guided tour to the Last Supper and a visit to the church Santa Maria delle Grazie with a English-speaking guide. Last Supper Painting by Leonardo da Vinci located in the refectory of the ancient Dominican monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie. This is a beautiful church. It is in a teperature controlled environment and no flashes allowed to preserve this painting. The LAST SUPPER was painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1494 and 1498.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable but when we were allowed our 15 minute viewing he talked loudly and really ruined the experience. Everything he said you can get on Google. Would just recommend the viewing without a guide

I had seen it before, so had our lovely Italian friends who were our 'guides, for the rest of the family it was their first visit and it was lovely to see the looks on their faces when they first saw the ' Last Supper'. Now we only have 15 minutes to view both it and the 'Crucifixion' and only 20 people allowed in each time so it gives one plenty of room to sit or stand and observe and admire the paintings.

The guide was super helpful, the scenery amazing and the whole trip was extremely worthwhile. I loved the information provided about each of the places we visited.

Wow! This was a dream come true. Seeing something that you have heard about and seen pictures of since childhood is a complete thrill. We had a great guide who knew a lot about The Last Supper. We visited the church first, and then we had 15 minutes with this precious work of art. I am so thankful that there was a recent restoration, so the coloring is much better than even 30 years ago. I had no idea how huge the painting is. It spans one large wall of what used to be a dining area. We also learned that daVinci used tempera paints, and thereby made is less durable. Security around the exhibit is quite tight. Doors open and close to let you into to certain areas as you reach the painting. Truly amazing.
