We didn't really know what to expect but were blown away by our guides Vicky (the owner) and trainee guide Jo. They knew so much about everything we saw along the way - the plant and animal life; the different soil types and how they impact the plants that grow; the history of the area and the various properties and their owners (including the filming of the French Survivor Outback); and of course information about the finding of the dinosaur stampede footprints. Great scenery around the edge of the escarpment - Vicky knew just where to go for the best views and photo opportunities and then put on morning tea for us. Then it was back in the bus and off to see the dinosaur stampede national monument (a bit like a national park). Lunch was a perfect salad pre-packed in individual serves for us then it was off to see the stampede (I will review it in its own right). When we had finished there, including a hike to the lookout and then the "Spinifex Walk" Vicky and Jo were waiting with fresh fruit salad for us before it was back on the bus to drive back to Winton with stops along the way to look at Wedge Tail Eagles. When in Winton don't think of anything other than touring with Red Dirt. Their buses are all air-conditioned and four wheel drive - which means you don't have to worry about whether or not your car will get through on the dirt roads. You will learn so much with them and also see so much that you would never otherwise get to look at.

We did the three day trip which was fantastic. Bec was our tour guide for the first day and a half. She shared her incredible knowledge of the flora, fauna, ancient landscape and geology. I have never had a more informative travel guide in all my travel both within Australia and overseas. She was witty and friendly and also very thoughtful of everyones needs. Our whole group absolutely loved her, we learned heaps. Also the landscape and views were amazing as well as the fascinating ancient history. Everyday was fabulous, we were well fed and well looked after. Thoroughly recommend this tour.

This was the first of our 3 days with Red Dirt Tours. Our day began early as Bec picked us up from our motel. Our tour took us up on the jump up to look out over the country with spectacular views and a diversity of trees and flowers that are peculiar to these unique places. We visited Carisbrooke Station homestead and then on to the Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry. We were VIP guests for the Lark Quarry tour with plenty of time for photos. The tour included a nice morning tea and a substantial lunch. Bec is a great guide and shares a wealth of information all along the way.

We thougherly enjoyed our day our with tour guide/driver Bec. The tour vehicle, morning & afternoon tea & lunch were also great (prepared by the Tatts. Hotel I believe. Bec was very informative about the area & sights along the tour route, she obviously loves her job & Winton..although she has only lived there for 5-6 years. What a great day out, thanks to Bec & Red Dirt Tours. Pam & Tony

The Guide was excellent and the tour was good, except the advert which stated we would be stopping for lunch at a cattle station, we arrived at a gate which was shut our guide said OH it looks like they are busy we will go some where else. With that he stopped and conventially there was a table and some upturned drums so he got out a cloth and asked if we wanted chicken or ham in our salad, which was made up in plastic containers. We arrived at the Stampede Centre and was told there was a walk and to back at the centre for our time slot - we had to wait over an hour, which seemed a waste of time.

We were most impressed with Bec, our driver and guide. Her knowledge of all things Winton was amazing. We would highly recommend this tour to the stunning Lark Quarry to anyone travelling to the Queensland outback.

A full days tour seeing the best of Outback Queensland with something g special to top it off! Firstly you need to be aware that there’s a lot of travel, 300km or so in the day, but with morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea plus plenty of sightseeing stops, it’s worth it! It’s also important to mention the tour guide and driver. Ours was Bec and she was nothing short of superb, spotting all manner of wildlife and taking us through the geology, history and geography of the region. Plus a special mention for allowing our youngest to sit up front for the final leg. Scenery was spectacular, the station is so cool to see and my kids have a few opal rocks from fossiking at the old mine. The day is topped off with a visit to the fossilized site of an actual Dinosaur stampede. The ONLY one in the world and 95 million years old!! Highly recommended and don’t miss this if you are in Winton 👍

Booked the whole day tour, Carisbrooke Station and Lark Quarry……Awesome day out Vicki picked us up on her bus, from the campground we were staying at.4 of us plus 3 others and set off… Well Vicki’s outstanding knowledge and personality really made great day excellent…..her informative commentary explaining the geography , wildlife, trees and grasses coupled with in-depth knowledge of the cattle and sheep industry of the area from flood plains, channel country to high country ( Jump ups/ Mesas) gave us all a whole new understanding of outback station life from floods to droughts and land management. Touring around the station we experienced stunning landscapes, morning tea at abandoned opal mine where Vicki had samples of what to look for coupled with choices of refreshments and nibbles.. then off again touring around and eventually ending up at Lark Quarry where a tasty cold meat and salad was offered along with wraps to make our own, dressings, soft drinks and juices for lunch. Then it was off the Stampeded Trackway exhibit guided tour, very informative and well presented, after that Vicki had individual containers of fresh cold fruit to finish with. Back on the bus for the trip home…punctuated with stops for a big 1m lizard, emus, wedge tailed eagle sighting to round off an excellent day filled with great memories and lots…….of pictures.. Thank You Vicki you’re awesome and your passion was very much appreciated by us all.. Highly recommend Red Dirt Tours⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏🏻🙏🏻

Luke was a great tour guide. For the event that created the dinosaur stampede to be so well preserved after 95 million years is amazing. The tracks matched the description of the event. Luke also gave us a commentary along the way which helped understand the history of the country we crossed and the trees. Lunch was an enjoyable healthy salad.
