I have hink the guide did an excellent job explaining the historical and cultural background, making the visit much more interesting. Pointed out lots of details which would have been missed otherwise. Lively and interesting stories . Excellent job.

After some confusion about the meeting place, we met with Alessandro and walked up to the castle. We had a great tour, loaded with historical - whose head was chopped off where! - and regional information and some fun speculation about why the castle was built.

Marco was an amazing guide. He was so knowledgeable about not only the castle, but the entire Puglia region. His English was perfect and he made the castle so much more interesting, important, and meaningful than if we had simply toured it by ourselves.

Marco was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable about the castle and the historical context in which it was constructed. The tour was thorough and moved at a comfortable pace, allowing time for pictures and questions.

Incredibly well preserved 13 century structure. Truly unique in many ways. Well worth a visit. Would highly recommend a guided tour as much of interest is non intuitive.

Marco was a great guide! Articulate, intelligent and knowledgeable. The site was very interesting and Marco helped us to learn more about the history of the castle and gave us elaborated information on the surrounding area. If you’re in the region you should definitely ask for Marco!

Although the castle is beautiful, there is minimal support for other than italian speakers. It was nice to roam around and view the castle and it’s very spectacular view of the surrounding area. There are no audio explanations and a very few english translated explanations. I’m not one to “expect” that but if you do, you will be disappointed. Most of what I learned about the castle was found online either before or after the trip. It is worth the trip, just to see the view.

A stop not to be missed, beautiful from afar, as you travel along the road (with a comfortable municipal bus number 6) you can see the mountain, which is getting bigger and bigger, up close it is wonderful, inside there are some halls, on two floors, here the walls, columns, speak, you can close your eyes and go back in time, there are totems with explanations, windows to enjoy the view all around, from the internal courtyard you can see its beauty and its importance, shame about the school groups that ruin the quiet, then after leaving you can walk around the castle, nearby there are toilets, bars and souvenirs.

Before arriving at the structure, large car parks welcome the tourist; they are equipped with a shuttle and are very comfortable (obviously both for a fee) The alternative is to try to reach the restaurant under the Castle which offers (subject to availability - it is small and also for a fee) The Castle, although unadorned, is very suggestive and I suggest that you first read up on its history, function and "owner" (Frederick II of Swabia, 1194 – 1250, "stupor mundi" We decide to take an audio guide so that it can tell us what we can't see but in reality it is a very simple story, with references to the room numbers (intuitive, the numbers are not present in the rooms) which deludes you into knowing the history, customs, related facts the Castle and instead...none of this In addition to this useless audio guide, this wonder does not have a card or panels to help visitors understand where they are. Fortunately, there are qualified guides with whom you can agree on the cost of the accompaniment and you can finally understand where you are! PS I don't know if formally there can be Guides: what is certain is that a) there are no indications on where to find them b) without the guide it is just a visit to a castle with unusual architecture
