This is where London's theatres were founded, at the time of the restoration of the monarchy during the reign of King Charles the second. In the 18th century it became the inspiration for Hogarth's pictures, the place where Boswell met Johnson and the Earl of Sandwich made perhaps the biggest bet in history on a snail race! The streets they knew are still there, and on our walk we can see where they played, loved, and plied their trades. We will go through Covent Garden, one of the liveliest places in London, pass different theaters, pubs, alley ways, court yards etc. glimpsing a long forgotten past.
