    We had the most action filled whale watching adventure ever. Jill and Kasey took us right to an area where there were dozens of whales. While watching these amazing creatures they were explaining the mating habits here in Maui. Group after group stayed close. Kasey spotted one with something wrapped around the female. They called the National Marine rescue team who came right out and were watching her in an attempt to help her. Then we continued on with additional viewing. Unreal trip!

    This was our second time with Ultimate Whale Watching. This time was on their VIP smaller group raft which was fantastic. Our guides Lacey and Lainey did a wonderful job and we learned so much about these incredible whales. We also learned about all the good work they do saving whales in danger. We highly recommend booking with Ultimate Whale Watching and look forward to our next visit.

    I’ve been out with them annually for the last three years and did this tour three times in late Dec, 2024/early January 2025. I did both the 6:30 AM and the 9AM tours out of Mala harbor. Went solo twice and took 2 family members along once. All watches were great. The boat is small and every seat is a good one. Our family group especially enjoyed the Captain Lacey/Naturalist Lainey duo who combined enthusiasm with great info and a laid-back vibe that made the trip really fun, but all captain/naturalist teams I have had were really good and worked hard to ensure we saw whales doing interesting behaviors (harder to do in December when numbers are lower). It’s a fabulous boat ride (both. In calm weather and pretty high swells/wind I had one day) and they do a great job of answering questions about these fascinating animals. I have been out with several other companies and love this one the most. Family owned. Well-organized and well-run. This isn’t just floating around for 2 hours hoping something comes up. These tours go after an experience for you. I’ve been on dozens of watches over the years (some really exciting), but no matter what happens on a particular tour, the captain/naturalist find a way to make the group feel like they personally witnessed something special. (Note: I was with a family who took 3 teenagers on the last tour. After the first whale surfaced near the boat, they were in awe and put their phones away!) You won’t be sorry you did this! Ultimate is awesome.

    This whale watching tour was quite literally the best thing that I have ever experienced. Our captains, Mark and Sarah, did everything they could to ensure that we had an amazing time, and they absolutely succeeded, keeping us on our toes with great jokes, and keeping us informed with awesome facts about whales. Our tour was 2 and a half hours long, and we continuously saw whales from beginning to end. Every time we saw a spout in the distance, our captains would take us there right away. If you want to whale watch in Maui, Ultimate is 100% percent the way to go. All of the staff are so nice and the experience is life-changing.

All trips from December – April are guaranteed to see whales or you go again for FREE! Our whale watch VIP tours host a small group of whale watchers, no more than 14 guests! Our fast and safe rafting vessels are low to the water and perfect for close encounters and small groups making every seat a front row seat! Listen to whale songs on our hydrophone and don’t forget your camera for epic photos of our humpback whale friends!
