Your experienced guide's accreditation from the German Institute for Contemporary History means they are authorised to provide an in-depth guided tour of the Documentation Centre, followed by the opportunity to explore some of the original bunkers that made up the extensive bunker system below the National Socialist complex on the Obersalzberg.

The Eagle's Nest

The highlight of this tour is a visit to the famous Eagle's Nest perched atop the Kehlstein mountain at 6, 017ft. Exploring the fascinating history of Hitler's teahouse including the original features, such as the huge marble fireplace and the famous brass elevator. PLEASE NOTE: The Eagle's Nest is only open May - October, depending on weather. If visiting November - April: Although not being able to visit the Eagle's Nest building itself, an in-depth historical account of the Eagle's Nest, using period photos to explain the historical significance of the building is included in this tour. Additionally, there will be an extended driving tour of Berchtesgaden to stop off at other WWII historical sites along the way.

The tour includes a driving tour of the Obersalzberg mountainside with detailed historical commentary throughout, pointing out the most historically significant locations, including: - the site of Hermann Göring's former home, - Albert Speer's former home and studio, - the former RSD Headquarters, - the former SS officers' housing.
