Your Itinerary
Tivoli
Morning pick up from the Cruise Port of Civitavecchia with Private vehicle and English-speaking driver. After 1 hour and a half from your departure, you will finally be able to gaze at view of the magnificent Tivoli Gardens, considered in the past as a peaceful refuge for exhausted travelers escaping from the chaos of Rome. Nowadays, Tivoli still remains an ideal day trip for anyone looking for a different and relaxing experience off the beaten tourist track.
Villa d'Este
During the drive from the port, your passionate and expert driver will provide you with a solid introduction and will help you buying the entrances once on site (around Euro 15.00 per person). Upon arrival in the charming village of Tivoli, your first stop will be Villa D’Este. This gorgeous villa is decorated with enchanting frescoes, but is most famous for its incredible fountain garden boasting hundreds of jets spurting water into numerous tubs and pools. The word beautiful does not begin to describe the wonder of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Villa Adriana
The next sight on the itinerary will make your jaw drop. Hadrian’s Villa was a water-park set up by the emperor Hadrian almost 2000 years ago and amazingly much of this ancient wonder still remains to be admired to this day. Clearly not being a believer in ‘less is more’, this larger than life character made sure his 2nd century theme park included an artificial heated beach, a maritime theater, arenas, baths, libraries and palaces (ticket to be purchased on the spot, cost is around Euro 10.00 per person).

Cascata dell’Aniene
(Pass by)
In Tivoli there is a third spectacular jewel that not everyone knows: it is the Great Waterfall!
The waterfall was created at the behest of Pope Gregory XVI, who diverted the course of the Aniene after the last disastrous flood of the river in 1826 had destroyed a part of the surrounding area, as many other times in the past since Roman times.
The Great Waterfall is a breathtaking sight: after a jump of 120 meters its imposing body of water ends in the so-called Valley of Hell, an abyss located at the foot of the ancient acropolis of Tivoli, where the Aniene river enters the Roman countryside .
During the visit you can rest on benches and relaxation areas, admiring a landscape that between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries was the preferred destination of the "Grand Tour", the journey that young and wealthy European aristocrats undertook to perfect their knowledge and whose most of the time it was Italy.
