The center of Berlin clothing was once located around Hausvogteiplatz.

Haus zur Berolina

The Haus zur Berolina once housed the textile trade. It is one of the few surviving houses that are a reminder of the success of Berlin clothing

Markgrafenstr.

The Hardy Bankhouse once stood here. With hits like Leningrad, My Life and Piano Man, Billy Joel became popular World famous in the 1970s. Find out today how the former bank was instrumental in the expropriation of Billy Joel's grandfather.

Gendarmenmarkt

The Gendarmenmarkt is probably the most beautiful square in Berlin. The Huguenot immigrants brought numerous trades with them and had a significant influence on the development of fashion.

Jägerstraße

The company Küchler & Pinkus once existed here. It wasn't just fashion companies and houses, but also fashion illustrators and intermediate masters. One of them is Kurt Ehrenfreund. His story has been preserved and you can hear it here today.

Mendelssohn-Remise

The Mendelssohn coach house and the exhibition tell the story of the Mendelssohns. The Mendelssohn Bank once stood here. It was one of over 400 private Jewish banks that still existed in Germany in 1935. Less than four years later there wasn't a single one left. Using the example of the bank, we will give you a little insight into how brutal the Aryanization was.

There remains a black spot on the white vest.
