Your Itinerary

Colonne Terminali della Via Appia

We will reach the Roman Columns of Brindisi, historical symbol of the terminal part of the Via Appia Antica. The panoramic stop lasts about 10 minutes, in which you can admire, from the top of the Virgiliana Staircase, the beauty of the city's inner tourist port.

Admission Included

Tempio di San Giovanni al Sepolcro

We will reach the characteristic Temple of San Giovanni al Sepolcro, evident testimony of the close relationship between the city of Brindisi and the Holy Land during the period of the crusades. The structure turns out to be the most faithful replica of the Anastasis rotunda in Jerusalem. Circular in shape, it preserves inside some fragments of frescoes of which various styles and eras can be recognized, representing saints and sacred scenes. The stop lasts about 10 minutes in which it is possible to explore the inside of the Temple.

Admission Included

Area Archeologica di San Pietro degli Schiavoni

We will reach the Archaeological Excavations of San Pietro degli Schiavoni, to discover a vast archaeological area full of elements and finds of the ancient Roman city. San Pietro degli Schiavoni is the name of the district that housed a church dedicated to the saint of the same name and welcomed the inhabitants of Slavic and Albanian origin, who were the protagonists of an immigration already from the second half of the fifteenth century. The archaeological area includes a quarter of the Roman city in the center of which is a hinge, i.e. one of the north-south road axes, on the sides of which the remains of a domus with mosaic floors can be clearly identified. The stop has a duration of about 10 minutes in which to explore the internal route of the excavations.

Admission Included

Palazzo Granafei Nervegna

We will reach the sixteenth-century Palazzo Granafei Nervegna, a building characterized by a Renaissance façade with Baroque influences, especially in the elements of the stone balconies. The stop lasts about 10 minutes, in which it will be possible to admire the fascinating original Capital of the Roman Columns up close.

Admission Included

Pontificia Basilica Cattedrale

We will reach the majestic Cathedral of Brindisi or the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista, of which the first stone was placed by Pope Urban II in 1089. Inside are visible the few fragments of the mosaic floor of 1178, the wooden choir of 1594 by local carvers, the 16th century baptismal font and many valuable canvases from various eras, collected in the various chapels, in the sacristy, and on the altars. A chapel is dedicated to the relics of San Teodoro, patron saint of the city together with San Lorenzo. Alongside the cathedral, on one side, the bell tower completed in 1795 and on the other the episcope and the seminary building, begun in 1720 using materials taken from the demolished Basilica of San Leucio. The stop at the Duomo lasts about 10 minutes.

Admission Included

Chiesa di Santa Teresa

(Pass by)

The panoramic itinerary includes the journey of Piazza Santa Teresa, where you can admire the Monument to the Fallen (created during the 1930s by the Brindisi artist Edgardo Simone in memory of the approximately 500 Brindisi's fallen of the First World War) and the Church of Santa Teresa (important testimony in Baroque style built for the munificence of the priest Francesco Monetta (1670) and historical seat of the Teresian convent).

Bastione San Giacomo

(Pass by)

The panoramic itinerary includes the journey of the San Giacomo Bastion of Brindisi, an integral part of the defensive system of the city of Brindisi, named after the apostle James and rebuilt in the sixteenth century at the behest of Emperor Charles V. The Bastion was built during the age Swabian in order to include the eastern hill within the fortification walls.

Monumento al Marinaio d'Italia

We will reach the fascinating Monument to the Italian Sailor, a rudder-shaped structure about 53 meters high that stands out on the port of Brindisi. The monument was inaugurated on November 4, 1933 to commemorate those killed at sea during world conflicts. From the terrace of the monument you will be able to enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the city, the port, the Adriatic Sea and the Brindisi airport. The stop has a duration of about 20 minutes in which to explore the monument and reach the panoramic peak.
