Thomas the guide was so polite and definitely entertaining to my grandkids. The excursion was worth every penny. The kayak was beautiful the hike beautiful and the water fall so fun to play in. He prepared a beautiful lunch with a surprise.

Excellent adventure. Our guide Thomas was very professional and knowledgeable. I definitely recommend this to anyone traveling to Kauai.well. Choose the 7 am adventure rather than the later one.

This tour was with Rainbow Kayak Tours, there are other vendors doing the same trip. Our trip could have been better. Our guide was very soft spoken and low key, not taking the time to develop any group dynamic like self introductions. We left almost 45 minutes late do to waiting for a participant. Water and chips for the trip/lunch were in boxes in the office, yet no one told us that we needed to get our own. The water was needed for the trip and for the dry sandwich on a stale bun provided for lunch. The river does have a current so paddling difficulty can vary- no instruction on paddling was really provided. Once we beached the boats there was a hike to the falls and we were provided walking sticks if desired--one or 2 old walking poles, a stick that looked like broom handle, some actual sticks...and people needed these sticks for stability as we crossed streams with fast current--no instruction or guidance was provided. The trail in my opinion was obviously do-able, but dangerous. There really needs to be a better description of the trail. The guide was barefoot while guidelines required shoes . The trail is muddy, slippery, has some boardwalk areas, many roots that can trip or twist ankles and steep ups and downs. The waterfall was beautiful. If you want to swim by it I suggest doing it when you first arrive as you do not really have much time and eating the sandwich may not be the best use of time. Our guide did point out some interesting facts about the plants, trees and animals in the area. After hiking out we had to assist the guide with hauling and loading the kayaks and gear onto a trailer. Other companies provided staff to do this task. It did not really seem fair to our guide and it delayed our leaving by over 30 minutes. Basically, eating into our time on the island. Everyone helped as we didn't want the guide to try and do it all alone, which I am not sure is possible. Basically, I would not recommend this company. It seems understaffed, low budget and needs to provide clearer information from better trained staff.

Loved loved loved it! Our tour guide was absolutely amazing; she was attentive, kind and patient. The scenery was breathtaking from start to finish. The river is so clean, cool and peaceful. The food and snacks were a special treat. I have nothing negative to say about this activity because it’s everything I hoped for and more.

Guide was super helpful. She helped us in Kayak. Our Kayak was losing direction. She tied the Kayak to her Kayak to prevent us from losing direction. She was very brave, informed and hard working. Loved the journey.

Wonderful adventure! Our guides were amazing, pointing out tips about Kauai along the way! We had an amazing time!

We had a blast with Kiela as our guide!! She was so sweet and took the best care of our entire group. (Our group ranged in age from 65-75). At times we had to work hard to climb up to the waterfall (and then back down again!) but it was worth the effort!! We were inexperienced kayakers, but we made it!!!

Such a fun relaxing beautiful kayak and hike trip. The waterfall is a nice climax to a fun active hike. It’s fun to dip in the water at the end. Our guide Thomas was great and kind. Highly recommend this - one of the highlights of our trip!

A big Mahalo to Thomas, who was an awesome guide!! The kayak trip was just beautiful! Such lush scenery to behold. The hike up and down was very doable, but not easy by no means! You do cross over small rivers and streams at different points. I'm short and it came up to my upper calf. Also, there was mud from several rain systems so definitely wear good soled shoes. I was still able to make the trek with water shoes but I don't recommend for most. You do have to climb up and down rocks a little, but there is a lot of flat walking too. We almost expected a Jurassic Park dinosaur 🦕 to pop out at times! Lol! The waterfall is so beautiful and worth the trip! I suggest booking the early morning tour. Lunch was provided so beautifully by Thomas, and the sandwich was fresh and yummy! They provide plenty of ice cold water as well. You can swim in the waterfall so wear your bathing suit. We brought clen clothes to change into for the ride home which was good for removing our wet, muddy clothes. There is a bathroom at the shop before and after your trip, as well as at the spot where you put the canoe in the river. This was such a wonderful adventure! Do it!!
