I’d say the fairly complete review and analysis of Harlem Civil Rights history, plus meeting an artist currently working on the enhancement of an upcoming event.

The tour was cancelled but Neal narrated very well and was very knowledgeable even though he wasn’t our guide.

Neal was so excited to share the history of Harlem. He personalized the tour for my daughter and me. It was an absolute highlight of our trip to NYC. Any student of modern American history or the civil rights movement must take this tour!

Turned up for the tour and as polite as the person was on the phone they had failed to inform us that the tour guide was sick and the tour wasn’t going ahead. He did rescheduled with us two days later and when we called prior to getting to the meeting spot, he again informed us that the tour guide was still sick. However, he himself would honour the tour which was great, or we could have a full refund. We decided to opt for the full refund which he said he would confirm via email which never transpired, and I am still waiting for the refund so Harlem Tours could you please effect my refund as soon as possible. I am however unable to comment on the tour itself which I suspect would be quite interesting.

The tour was supposed to start at 1pm. The tour guide did not show up. A man who appeared to be unhoused (filthy, mismatched, unwashed clothes; unwashed appearance) arrived at 1:30pm and began talking to us (a group of 10 total) with no introduction, no verification. We did not feel safe. He began trying to lead us down the street but my date and I left. We could not verify if he was a legit tour guide. He had no badge; did not confirm our booking; did not introduce himself. We have no way of knowing who he was. I have requested a refund.

Lee was a wonderful tour leader. He was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his home, Harlem. We covered a lot of territory, each place had its own story. As a bonus, Lee introduced our group to some friends and local celebrities. We’re glad we took the tour.

Patrick M

Was reasonably enjoyable to see the neighborhood but very little detail given. Some historic events were mentioned but no detail given.
