Don’t waste money or time with this tour. It’s 4 hours of pretty much driving around and then a dark boat tour. I was hoping to learn more about the light installations—I didn’t. I was hoping to get up close views of the lights—I didn’t. I actually had more fun enjoying the lights and festivities at Potsdamer Platz where I was “already” staying.

We reserved this tour to view the Festival of Lights which included a boat tour. Not knowing exactly what to expect I figured it would be an easy way to see the light shows without having to deal with all the crowds & learn a little bit about the city. The Tour though was not as described. It describes a max of 20 people – it’s not. The motorcoach was completely full. There were opportunities to leave to bus to get a better look at the light shows. The curry wurst coupon was included. It was supposed to be a German / English guide, “who will explain the sights to you”. Our guide spoke at length in German and left 2 or 3 sentences in English. We learned nothing about what we were looking at. What little was said in English, wasn’t connected to any other thoughts so what was being described didn’t even make sense. It was even difficult for us to find where to get the curry worst since the explanation was so obscure. The tour was not prepared well. Some simple things (that we learned on another tour) could have easily been added to make the tour more interesting. The boat ride (over an hour) was a complete waste of time. We saw one light installation when we first boarded the boat and that was it. The rest of the boat ride was in near darkness, but at least there was a bar. The light shows were cool and interesting – my advice would be to either buy tickets on a double-tiered bus (like the Hop on Hop Off) so that you can experience the lights without necessarily leaving the bus. Avoid the boat tour – there’s nothing to see. If you want to go on a Spree River cruise – go during the day where you can ‘see’ the city.

In a word: catastrophic We have now done this for the 3rd time. The first time it was good, the 2nd time the tour was severely restricted by 'Corona'. But now, the 3rd time, it was terrible. We are never the ones who moan or complain, but this was really too much of a bad thing. The tour guide was very weak, left out a lot of things, her English was a solid 5. She wanted to be funny a few times, but didn't succeed. The boat tour could have been skipped, there were no illuminated sights to see, apart from a bridge and the 'Alex', but you can see that from everywhere. The bus tour was a real rush, but only once with a little more time. If they say we'll be leaving again in 5 minutes, then that's telling, because 57 passengers, most of them up in the double-decker, won't be off the bus for 7 minutes. So... No thanks, from now on we're on our own again. Therefore 0 points, the one point was mandatory - phhh
