We got picked up for our morning tour of the city, and it was a perfectly fine tour, and part of why I am giving any "stars". We got dropped off at the Skydeck where we were told we would get picked up at 2 for the second half of our tour. We were at the meeting point before 2. An Oceania Tours driver came by, picked up one person, and told us that another bus would be coming for us, that the traffic was really bad so they were all running behind. We waited until 3 before I called to see where our bus might be. We were told that we weren't booked for a tour that day. I said, "that is ridiculous, because your bus dropped me off here 3 hours ago, so I am absolutely on a tour today". The further they looked into it, they realized their "system" hadn't added us to the second half of the tour. They asked if we wanted to get an Uber to the Sanctuary, which we would have likely missed most of, and which was part of what I was looking forward to the most. Or we could re-book the second half the next day, which didn't work because we had a full schedule. Or they offered us a full refund. We took the refund, and it came through pretty quickly, so they did make us whole. However, I really wanted to do the full tour. I was upset that we were forgotten and that we wasted 3 hours, most of which was spent in the heat. This was our 2nd worst tour experience through our entire 3 week trip to New Zealand and Australia. I hesitated to write this review, but I probably would have still booked this tour, and just asked the first driver to call the company to make sure we were on the second half if I had known that was a regular issue. So, by all means, book this tour, but know that you could run into this issue and just plan ahead and ask if you are definitely listed on the second half of the tour. It sounded like it had happened to another couple the day before, and the person who handled my phone call said it was a known issue, so the company should really work to get that problem solved, so their customers don't have to do the extra work of verifying what should already be known, especially if they are mid-tour.

The Melbourne City Tour was very informative with a great guide seeing several sites in three hours. We were dropped off for a two hour lunch on our own at the Eurika Skydeck by the Yarra River and had a wonderful lunch overlooking the river. We were picked up at two by a different guide to go to Phillip Island. There was a wonderful stop at a sanctuary to see several Australian animals. We stopped at several places on Phillip Island finally stopping where we would have dinner and watch the evening penguin parade. It was all amazing. We were dropped off at our hotel after midnight. I think if we were to do this again, we might take two separate tours rather than combining them but we loved the entire day and evening!

Kevin, our guide, was great but there was a mess-up in picking us up after the first part of the tour and it was very confusing after we were dropped off for lunch and skydeck on our own. . Better communication is needed in pickup locations and Viator should have done a better job letting us know how long the tour lasted-one quote was 13 hours yet when I called they said we would be done by 5pm and then the tour actually lasted from 8:30am-11:30pm—-15 hours. Viator did not did a good job in communicating the itinerary of what Oceania tours would do. The itinerary was a bit different.

We loved seeing Melbourne in the morning city tour. Gary was absolutely the BEST guide and so knowledgeable. We learned and saw so much about Melbourne. The afternoon tour was to Penguin Parade, Moonlit Sanctuary, and the Nobbies. Alex was knowledgeable, comical, helpful and a magnificent tour guide. These two tours are a MUST for visitors, and if your visiting friends need to see the city firsthand. After this day we fell in love with Melbourne.

Great! Sam was a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. This is really two tours with a lunch on your own break in the middle, which was fine with us. It did make for a long day, but the views at the end of the day from Philip Island were the best part and well worth the drive.

I would like to do again but not through Tripadvisor. In case of any trouble, there is no way to contact them. No customer service contacts no other way to contact them. I lost good amount of money with Tripadvisor. Ultimately it fell upon me that we did something wrong.

This is actually two half day tours, as the morning was sightseeing in the city with Fred, who shared many fun facts and stories, and after a pause at the Skydeck,Kevin led another group to the Moonlit Sancturay and Philip Island. The morning was very informative and got us out at several points ,the afternoon got some rain in the sancuary, and later, when on the tribune for the Penguin parade, it poured really hard on us. Maybe that was the reason not so many penguins came ashore. It was all very well organised, and after some time we were told to start walking on the boardwalks, where we saw several groups of penguins walking along on their way to their burrows.I think this trip was the best to get the most in a short one day visit.

!!!!!!!THIS TOUR IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!! Literally the WORST tour I’ve ever been on. Unprofessional and rude would be an understatement. There was construction on the road near our hotel so they told us to meet them 15 mins away from our hotel rather than just meeting down the street. We went to the address they sent and waited but they sent an address that didn’t match the location point so we missed the bus pick up. Rather than having us meet them somewhere else on the tour they made us skip the entire tour of Melbourne and meet them at 1:00. At that point over 1/2 of the tour was over. I tried to call them with the numbers that I had been in contact with prior to figure out if we could meet the bus somewhere else in Melbourne but the operator disconnected the line so I couldn’t get in contact with them. On the website it states that the first stop is St. Paul’s Cathedral so we decided to go to the cathedral in hopes of running into the tour and joining them there. We waited for an hour and a half only to find out that that was not ever part of the tour and they do not go to St. Paul’s at all. Finally we met up with the bus at 1:00 to head over to Phillip Island and the bus driver was extremely rude and picked a fight with one of the other people on the tour threatening to leave him at the sky deck and go on without him. The driver also had a microphone to speak along the tour on the way to Philip Island but it was a cheap system that had a high pitched static feedback noise that played for the entire 4 hr bus ride. From there we went to the moonlit sanctuary and the penguin parade oh Phillip island, both of which were great! The tour company actually upgraded our tickets at the penguins parade to make up for the trouble we had with them earlier on in the day, which was very nice. Moral of the story- I’d highly suggest going to the moonlit sanctuary and the penguin parade, however I would not under any circumstances recommend doing it through this tour company!!

Sarah was an amazing tour guide. It was raining when we had the island tour so having water proof gear is a must if the weather is rainy. You just can’t take pictures of the penguins

Fred was amazing. He really makes the tour fun. I liked that we got out of the van from time to time and Fred’s stories are so engaging. It was my first time traveling solo but Fred makes sure everyone feels included.
