Columbus Park

(Pass by)

Columbus Park, formerly known as Mulberry Bend Park, Five Points Park and Paradise Park, is a public park in Chinatown, Manhattan, in New York City that was built in 1897. During the 19th century, this was the most dangerous ghetto area of immigrant New York, as portrayed in the book and film Gangs of New York.

Chinatown

(Pass by)

Vibrant Chinatown is a densely populated neighborhood that draws foodies and tourists to its many Chinese and Southeast Asian restaurants for dumplings, pork buns and hand-pulled noodles. The busy sidewalks are packed with souvenir stores, bubble tea shops, and markets selling everything from fresh and dried fish to herbs and spices. Locals hang out in leafy Columbus Park for Tai Chi, chess and mahjong.

Canal Street

(Pass by)

Canal Street is a Lower Manhattan thoroughfare where cultures collide. It's well-known for its bargain shopping scene. The street stretches from near the Hudson River to East Broadway and serves as the gateway to Chinatown, Little Italy, SoHo, and Tribeca.

Little Italy

(Pass by)

Little Italy is a neighborhood in Lower Manhattan in New York City, known for its large Italian population. It is bounded on the west by Tribeca and Soho, on the south by Chinatown, on the east by the Bowery and Lower East Side, and on the north by Nolita.

Nolita

(Pass by)

Picturesque Nolita is a charming, upscale area with a trendy vibe. It's known for its chic shopping scene, and has plenty of designer jewelry shops, unique clothing boutiques and home-design stores. Fashionably casual crowds stroll the neighborhood and fill the popular sidewalk cafes, chic bars and trendy restaurants. On weekends, street vendors selling hand-made jewelry and artwork line Prince Street.

We LOVED this tour! A great example of leaving it to the experts to ensure a memorable day. Dena, our guide, was terrific. She gave us the history and back stories of the places we visited which my husband and I love! She made sure everything was ordered so as soon as we got to the next destination the food was ready. The food picks were fantastic- and things we probably would not have chosen. We particularly loved the fried dumplings, steamed rice noodle rolls with pork and pineapple sugar and the best pizza we have ever had with burrata infused with truffle oil. An added benefit was the great people we met in our group. An overall wonderful experience!

Such a wonderful way to get a little taste of China Town and Little Italy as well as some history. Wil was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the two towns, their food and history. The food portions were just perfect and we loved them all!

My friend and I did the 4:00 tour on 5/12. Our guide was Renée. We found out at the end that it was her very first tour, but we would never have known. She did a terrific job and was very knowledgeable. She was very upbeat and energetic, and had a great sense of humor. Restaurants that were selected as part of the tour were wonderful. We enjoyed the food very much, especially the pineapple pork bun, Barata pizza and the cheesecake. We had plenty to eat! Renée told great stories and shared interesting facts about the area. Justin came along as well, which we found out at the end was sort to bet her “superviser” for her first time. Justin as a great addition to the group and also contributed to our enjoyment of the tour. I would highly recommend Secret Food Tours in general, and specifically the Chinatown and Little Italy tour. And you would be lucky to have either Renee or Justin as your guide! Now that I’ve had such a great introduction to Chinatown, Little Italy and Nolita, I would feel comfortable doing more exploring of those areas on my own on my next trip to NYC, possibly revisiting some of the restaurants we sampled on the tour, or trying some of the hundreds of others in those neighborhoods!

2nd visit to New York. 2nd food tour (1st was in Providence, RI). Hands down the most authentic and energetic tour was our Chinatown and Little Italy NY tour. In just a couple of hours, we walked through the past, present and foodture of the two areas, speaking to the locals and sampling the fare. Not a bad bite in the bunch. Pork buns from Mei Lai Wah and dumplings from Tasty Dumplings were some highlights, along with Grace's energy and ability to recount historical details that told a story of trials, triumphs and fodder - removing any room for a dull moment. Grace is your go-to guide for sure! I learned something, ate great food (even burned a few calories!) and did so in great company. *****

I thoroughly enjoyed this walking food tour of Chinatown and Little Italy. Normally my husband and I do this kind of activity together when we are on vacation, but today I was solo. The food was delicious and more than enough. We all walked away from the experience rubbing our bellies because we were so full and satiated from the deliciousness.Grace was a fantastic guide! Her knowledge was spot and her sparkly and bubbly personality made the tour all the more fun. I feel like she really went to the extra mile if you'll excuse the pun. This was a home run kind of experience! Thank you so much!
