Shamus (sp ?) Was a fantastic guide. This is a great introduction to the history of Philadelphia that gives you great insight into what you might like to do a more in-depth tour of on your own. He made a point of stopping in shaded areas to talk. Answered questions easily. I recommend this tour.

If you find yourself in Philadelphia, do yourself a favor and do NOT pass up this tour. And, if you happen to find yourself in the company of the tour guide Jay, you are in for a special treat. Not only did we get to see some famous sites like Independence Hall (and some less famous like the Quaker Meeting Hall) from the time of the American Revolution, lifelong Philadelphian Jay made the rich history of this place come alive with his knowledgeable, insightful and sometimes funny commentary. I am deeply interested in history, but even if you are not, take this tour. I bet by the end of it, you will be too.

We were able to see all the important sites that I wanted to see in one afternoon.

This was an excellent tour of Old City Philly. Our guide, Jay, was 5/5! He was knowledgeable, articulate & funny. Learned a lot about the history of the sites we visited as well as humorous side stories & urban myths. Sites included the Quaker meeting house with history of William Penn, Betsy Ross house, Elfreth’s Alley & Ben Franklin sites. Also cheesesteak ordering tips!
Highly recommend as the first thing to do when visiting Philadelphia!

This is a quick-moving, informative tour. I enjoyed seeing the old street where people have lived since the 1700’s. I would have liked to learn more about the Liberty Bell.
