Peekaboo Gulch

The slot canyon is most famous because of the last 100 meters, before the junction with Dry Fork of Coyote Gulch - here the ravine cuts deeper into the sandstone, with a series of interlinked potholes, extravagant swirls and fins of rock, and several arches; these different openings and the many corners and crevices account for the curious name of this canyon.

Admission Included

Spooky Gulch

Only 10 inches wide at some points, Spooky is appropriately named. It is possible to travel almost halfway through before the first of two climbs, so go ahead and squeeze through as far as you dare.

Neil was a great guide with many years of hiking the canyons and area. Really enjoyed this experience of the three slot canyons. Not sure we could've done this on our own, so we were so happy to have Neil and his expertise with us! Would definitely do this tour again and highly recommend Neil!!

Neil did a fantastic job of guiding us through the slots and throwing in some great local history. The small group size (6) was a plus and the canyons were beautiful. We would totally recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see some beautiful slot canyons off the beaten path and be challenged physically doing it. 5 stars!

We had the best time with Regen. He was so enthusiastic, patient and helpful. I would highly recommend him to anyone. This excursion pushed our comfort level which we appreciated. Having Regen by our side made it possible.

This is a very unique experience! Without a guide you wouldn't know where to go. Our guide Neil made sure we made it through in one piece. Beautiful, fun and unforgettable experience.

Regan, our guide, was absolutely wonderful. He managed to get us to places throughout the slot canyons that I didn't think we could have done. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences of our vacation. Highly recommend Regan and this Peekaboo, Dry fork, Spooky slot canyon tour.

We had a great adventure, thanks to Regan, our guide. He was knowledgeable, helpful, kind, ensured our safety, and had a terrific personality and sense of humor. We can’t say enough good things about him or our experience.

Outstanding tour. Regan had great suggestions and was very familiar with the hike and has lots of information about the history and facts pertaining to Escalante. Perfect hike!!!

Our hike thru the Dry Fork, Peekaboo and Spooky slot canyons were the HIGHLIGHT of our Mighty Five trip thru Utah. Our guide, Regan, was outstanding! His knowledge of the geology and history of the region was an added bonus to the beauty of the landscape. On top of that Regan was endlessly encouraging as we made our way thru challenging terrain always ready with a strong arm to pull us up, patient instruction on where to put our hands and feet to maneuver the tricky parts and good humor to keep us going. I would highly recommend ROAM-Escalante and tour guide Regan for a “bucket list” experience thru the amazing slot canyons of Escalante!

The best way do hike these canyons is with an experienced tour guide. We were lucky to have Neil as our guide! We have moderate hiking experience and Neil made us feel safe and confident through even the most challenging areas. He has a great personality and shared his enthusiasm and knowledge of the area which added to our overall experience.

What a fantastic experience. Regan was our guide. The ride out to the start point was a crazy bumpy dirt road, Regan gave us some of the history and geology of the Grand Staircase on the ride out and we all got to know each other a little better as well. The walk out to the canyons were gradual downhill, and some more conversation about the geology and natural history of the area. The canyons were amazing and Regan was very upbeat and excited to lead us through our first experience doing this. In Dry Fork, along the way he showed us some techniques to use when navigating various types of terrain in the canyons. Peekaboo was our first challenge, but Regan was very encouraging. There was some low level water along the way, but Regan was very adaptable to the situation as we navigated our way up the canyon. He was very enthusiastic, and put confidence was boosted as we moved along. It was challenging, in a good way, and so much fun. Spooky was also a great experience, and Regan once again was so encouraging along the way. I cannot overstate how much fun this was. You will not regret doing this.
