Our tour narrator, Winfried, gave moving accounts of his growing up in Berlin and the all the changes he experienced. Very informative and always kept it interesting.

We are a group of 14 friends on a motor coach of the city of Berlin. Our fabulous tour guide was Winfried who greeted us at the train station and saw us safely back to our departure. He guided through the busy sights while skilfully giving us information and answering all our questions. We appreciated his sharing his personal experiences, especially with regard to the Berlin Wall and the time period before and then after Berlin became one. The day was as we hoped it would be, much thanks to the kindness, good nature and considerable knowledge imparted by Winfried. A note about booking, all my questions were promptly and well answered. We fourteen highly recommend A Friend in Berlin and our special tour guide, Winfried. It was freude!

We really enjoyed seeing the sights of Berlin but the highlight was the deep knowledge of our guide Thomas. It was apparent that he was very passionate about his work and took pride in doing research on the subject so that he would not give us any incorrect information.

Winfried and our driver were fabulous. Lots of information about the city and sites; while also being fun and charming!

Jennifer_H

we learned directly about what it meant to live in East Berlin thru our excellent guide Willfred - we also learned a great deal about the history of Berlin

Had a wonderful time with Thomas who provided us great insights to the history of the city. He is extremely knowledgeable about the city and it helped us appreciate the sites a lot more. He was also flexible to plan this around the places we wanted to visit, without having a set agenda - that is a true example of a custom tour. Will be sure to repeat this in near future with our family!

Guide Thomas was perfect for us . Great tour for “learning” history of Berlin as well as sights Probably not best for Young children but college age will get a real education

Sandra_W

Thomas knew his Berlin history. He showed us the high points of the city which is exactly what we were looking for.

deeanneevans

What a great way to see Berlin! The convenience of a private tour allowed us to go at our own pace while still seeing so much of the city, both East and West. Thomas was knowledgeable and informative. He let us know his unvarnished views on the current state of Germany which was insightful. We stopped for lunch at a great local spot and he had us back for our transfer just at the agreed upon time. Would recommend this tour to others.

Thomas was an excellent guide. He was extremely efficient with time, parking, bathroom breaks, water bottles, site visits and the many laminated teaching aides he had available to pass around the car (see attached sample). The things we learned from his words and the thoughts that they inspired will last a lifetime. My teenagers were engaged and left motivated to learn more, be better and make a difference. What else could a parent ask for? Probably the most interesting part of the day for me was asking Thomas about his perspective from being born and raised in East Germany before the wall came down. Wow. What a treat for me to hear his candid and moving words. It was just an incredible day!! Message me for details....
