Your Itinerary

Jacobs Ladder Beach

(Pass by)

Just off Jacobs Ladder Beach is Chit Rocks, a large reef that stretches out almost a mile into deep water. Here in Summer, the water clarity can be incredible and sometimes we will get a glimpse of bass or crabs resting on the reef. We'll paddle out across the reef and see if we can spot any more marine species.

Ladram Bay Beach

On our paddle to Ladram we'll spend 15-30 minutes exploring Lade Foot, Big Picket and Little Picket; the three main geological rock formations that first appear as you head west from Sidmouth. Here in Summer you might see splashes in the water due to the school bass that congregate at the base of Lade Foot. I've also seen sandeels, pollack, Barrel & Compass jellyfish, Sea gooseberries & comb jellies here, and if you feel brave this is a great place to snorkel! As we continue our paddle adventure, we'll pass Little Picket, home to nesting Cormorant's hanging out their wings to dry in the Summer air alongside nesting Herring gulls. We'll then pass Sandy Cove, a beautiful deserted beach not accessible from land until low tide. This is a great spot for packed lunch! We'll then continue and stop off to enjoy a coffee or an ice cream at the beach bar at Ladram Bay Holiday Park! After we have refuelled we'll then have a relaxing paddle back to Sidmouth.

Jacobs Ladder Beach

This is our return spot, from where we started our paddle. The entire trip lasts around 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
