House of the Black Heads
An architectural delight in Riga’s Old Town, it’s no surprise that the House of the Black Heads is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. Travel back in time to explore the legacy of the Black Heads brotherhood and their lavish events! Learn about the group of unmarried merchants and shipowners and see where the events would take place visiting the museum, and celebration halls. Inside you can also see a large silver collection and 14th-century cellars. Outside in the square (don’t miss out on the red, green and gold door!), you can see the spot where the first public Christmas tree was put up in 1510. Today, concerts, balls, gala dinners and other cultural events are hosted in the building.
