Orange Torpedo Trips

trip starts at 8:30 am or 12:30 pm MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME at our shop in downtown Riggins.  After meeting at our shop we will drive five minutes At the put-in where the group will receive the equipment for the trip, including PFD’s for everyone, splash tops and helmets as requested or required. After getting everyone geared up the group will receive a thorough paddling orientation ensuring you have all the info you need to be successful during your river day. Apply the sunscreen and it’s time to start floating. The half-day trip starts off with some more mellow whitewater giving everyone a chance to get their feet under them before the group moves into the bigger rapids at Time Zone Bridge.  Here you will have your first taste of the big whitewater and huge thrills to come throughout the rest of the trip. Another big rapid around the corner leads to some time to relax, float and swim.  Sometime downriver and the group will pull over for a quick snack, some rock skipping and maybe even a little swimming before climbing back in the boats to take on the bigger rapids downstream. After a number of rapids certain to get the adrenaline pumping we come to the final flats above the takeout.  This is a great chance to hop in the river in your PFD and float along the canyon walls, splash the kids, and reflect on the incredible time you have had floating on the mighty Salmon River. As the group pulls into the takeout and the waiting van the guides will quickly pack up all the gear and it’s into the van for a 10 minute ride back to your waiting car and the conclusion of the trip

Lucile

This is where the floating portion of the trip concludes. Here the group loads in a van and returns to our shop.

Fun trip down the Salmon River through the mountains. These outfitters have been in business for a while and know what they’re doing. Great guides!

Conquering a Level 4 rapid and staying in the boat due to Cole’s expertise! This trip was memorable from start to finish.

Our guide Bronwyn was amazing. She was personable, knowledgeable, fun, and impressively strong. She even did a back flip off our raft in the calm/swimming area of the river. I was so happy to see female guides in a generally male dominated career. Jade was another guide that floated with another family, and she was equally impressive. I would highly recommend Orange torpedo for a Salmon River float. Our 6 year old was excited and chatty and pretty annoying, but Bronwyn was great with him. Thanks so much for a great time and awesome memories!

Our guides Maggie and Andrew were so fun and we felt in good hands ( safe). We had four adults and two kids ( 10 & 15 y.o.) and everyone had a great experience. The views were incredible and the rapids were awesome. Definitely recommend Orange Torpedo Trips! Thank you Maggie and Andrew!

Jackie and Bronwen were excellent guides for our trip down the Salmon River. The river was running fast on a beautiful afternoon and they made sure we rode the wave trains for the most fun.

Early in the season and we were the only people on our trip. Along with our guides and some folks training. It was big water and very lovely. All the people were beyond helpful and nice.

I have rafted a few times in Maine. This was a great experience for my teens first time. The guides do the majority of the paddling with some help through the rapids by the rafters. Our guide Noah was excellent. Great memories were made. The are restrooms at the launch and pullout site. Bring extra clothing we were soaked!
