Zhujiajiao Ancient Town

Your tour guide will meet you at your hotel at 09:00 a.m.. Then, we will transfer to Zhujiajiao and start the highlight tour. Also known as the ‘Venice of Shanghai,’ Zhujiajiao is the best preserved of the four ancient water towns in the Shanghai area. With a history dating back over 1,700 years, Zhujiajiao is full of lovely canals and waterways, small alleys, picturesque bridges, and ancient buildings, many from the Ming and Qing dynasties. The best way to explore Zhujiajiao is on foot and by boat. We will stroll through 1,700 years of history on a leisurely boat tour of this delightful water town. Then, We will visit landmarks including Kezhi Garden, the Qing-period post office, the City God Temple and Yuanjin Temple. Zhujiajiao post office is the earliest post office in east China, which is the only well-preserved Qing dynasty post office in east China. At noon, we will enjoy local specialty for lunch. After lunch, we will stroll around Former French Concession area, such as Xintiandi, Shikumen Museum, Sinan Road and Tianzifang. We can appreciate the SHIKUMEN style old houses and the relaxing atmosphere of Xintiandi.

Xintiandi

Xintiandi is a tourist attraction that preserves the historical and cultural features of Shanghai and integrates Chinese and western culture. Xintiandi is divided into northern and southern parts. The south is dominated by modern architecture. The north is dominated by Shikumen old buildings. Composed of Shikumen and modern architectural style, now it has become a hot and fashionable pedestrian street in the center of the city. Actually, it stands for the popular and leisurely life style of this city's new generation. The outdoor cafes, bars and romantic restaurants can be seen everywhere.

Shikumen Museum, Shanghai

It is an old shikumen house built in the 1920s that has been preserved and renovated. The museum was built according to the model of one household in the 1920s. There are seven main exhibition rooms, namely, the guest room, the study room, the old people's room, the master room, the daughter room, the pavilion room and the oven room. The story of a shikumen family runs through the whole visit. It not only shows the unique shikumen architectural culture of Shanghai, but also reproduces the living space and lifestyle of Shanghai people in those days.

Sinan Road is a famous French-style road in Former French Concession Shanghai. There are about twenty garden houses on both sides of the street that are representative of almost all the residential styles of Shanghai in the early 20th century. Moreover, there are a variety of restaurants, bars, coffee houses, tea houses, as well as a large number of clubs, convention centers, showrooms, cultural salons, designer shops and recreational parks. Tianzifang

Tianzifang, which used to be industrial area, is now a fashion landmark with many lanes. You can walk through the old alleys to see what the folk houses looked like in early 20th century Shanghai with dormer windows, red tiles, green moss on the walls, and so on. The sci-fi-esque 1,535-foot (468-meter) tower houses observation platforms, a glass-bottomed walkway, rotating restaurant, as well as the Shanghai History Museum in its basement. Chinese people believe that the number nine symbolizes auspiciousness. Walking across the Bridge is said to bring people good luck. The Bridge leads to Mid-Lake Pavilion Teahouse, which is the oldest teahouse in Shanghai. Back to hotel after all the activities listed in the itinerary and end of the service.
