We did the self guided tour so we could make our way round at our own pace and there is so much information explaining the history and purpose of each section that you can definitely learn so much even if you don't have a guide with you. It took around 2 hours to visit each section and we were really pleasantly surprised by the size and amount there is to see. There's lots of opportunities to take photos and really get a sense of how the prison would have been when it was still in use, you can walk inside the cells and explore at your own pace. Would definitely recommend a visit for a really unique and interesting experience

A great experience to get first hand experience of a prison, with some history and educational information. We wandered round on a self guided tour, but I think you get better insight on one of the guided tours.
