Flamingo Gardens

Your admission to Flamingo Gardens takes you into a 60-acre (24-hectare) wildlife sanctuary with tropical botanical gardens and a large group of Florida's native rescued critters such as alligators, eagles, otters, bear, bobcats, panthers, peacocks, and, of course, flamingos. Explore the Wray Botanical Garden’s subtropical plants and trees, which features some of the largest examples of their species in Florida. Then stroll through the Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary where more than 80 native creatures live. Watch an expert handler present a wildlife encounter show featuring the birds of prey and reptiles. You'll learn more about their lives in Florida’s habitat. Stroll through theme gardens such as the Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden, where you may glimpse species like the ruby-throated hummingbird, the South American malachite butterfly, and the very rare pink-spot sulfur butterfly. See orchids, bromeliads, and other air plants that hang among the branches in a grove of live oaks that are upwards of 200 years old. Marvel at feathered friends in the 25,000-square-foot aviary, which is home to one of America’s largest collections of wading birds. Five Everglades ecosystems are represented: coastal prairie, cypress forest, mangrove swamp, subtropical hardwood hammock, and sawgrass prairie. Caribbean flamingos parade around at Flamingo Pond, a favorite spot for visitors. The Bird of Prey Center houses owls, hawks, falcons, and golden and bald eagles. You can also tour the Wray Museum, located in the former home of the family who owned this land. Built in 1933, the residence has been restored to provide a glimpse of life in a typical South Florida country home from the 1930s. Your admission includes a tram ride with informative commentary plus exclusive access to 42 remote acres of Flamingo Gardens, with some of the last original jungle growth in South Florida. Ride through a tropical rainforest, 200-year-old live oaks, and tropical fruit groves. Then pass by the wetland area where juvenile birds born in the wildlife sanctuary are released. The tour lasts approximately 25 minutes, leaving every hour throughout the day. If you get hungry during your visit, snacks and beverages can be purchased at the marketplace and cafe on the grounds.

Enjoyed our time wandering the gardens and animal exhibits. Great way to spend a couple hours before our flight out of Fort Lauderdale Airport, only 20 minutes away.

Check in was not smooth because they said that I had a “third party” ticket. The tour was interesting. We did take a lot of pictures. The trail maps were a little confusing. Our guide did a good job.

Park was filled with gorgeous flora and fauna, and alligators, Florida panther and flamingos were the highlight!! Take the tram ride for an informative dive into the history of the sanctuary… I gladly give this tourist destination ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good for kids, but not the best we've been to. Grounds seem well kept and several projects underway, but they are needed to make this a great venue. Tram ride was OK but seemed hurried. It would be better if they would actually stop long enough to take pictures of what they point out. But seems like we stopped long enough to get a glimpse, and then moving again. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours, so I hope they upgrade to make it an awesome experience.

Excellent experience for all ages! Fed flamingos Egyptian geese and ibis by hand. Beautiful gardens! A must do!

The hubby & I decided to take drive w/o a destination in mind & ended up here. I wish I had on flat shoes as we did quite a bit of walking but, I enjoyed myself, nonetheless. This place is HUGE! We saw all kinds of animals & even sat in for a live presentation of 2of the critters there, one of which was a skunk! We saw toucans, parrots (some of which talked to us), flamingos, a black bear, many birds of prey, river otters, a huge turtle, alligators & more. It was very nice. There is even a wedding gazebo, a banyan pavilion & a museum. Those are three of the things that we did not get to see. The place is huge and next time, we'll get on the tram to see more.

Relaxing, clean and good access to animals. Well kept grass area and easy to walk around or use the tram. Food was reasonable and the staff were super helpful. Restrooms were clean too. Highly recommended day out.

I went with my granddaughter and we had a great time. Loved the tram ride and hearing all the knowledge about the place. Flamingos were beautiful. Overall would definitely recommend.

Nice little park, many trees and animals. So go and get it. I love it. Buddy was really cute and you can also feed the flamingos

Sad to say Flaming Gardens is little more than a park. A few enclosures with a selection of various birds of prey, a few orchids and other native plants but overall... very underwhelming. Not worth the admission price with so many other alternatives.
