This was the trip of my dreams, pure magic! Everything was perfect— the drive, the scenery, the beautiful churches, and of course, the special locations of the Sound of Music. Special thanks to our wonderful guide, Melanie, who was friendly, knowledgeable and super organized. Recommend this very highly.

Our terrible guide was Arnault. He came in the morning looking crabby and very hung over. We had just finished an excellent tour with Christina the day before for the Neuswanschtein castle trip. Firstly there were no reminders from viator about the trip and that we need to get passports. For the castle trip we had text reminders. At least 6 people did not know they had to bring passports. I had my US passport paper copies and digital copies with me. He refused to see that. We spent additional $150 to get train tickets and Uber rides to hotel and then take a train from Munich to Salzburg to catch u with group. Once we finally joined the touring group, in Salzburg, Arnault did not ask for passport and did not even want to see it. He was not saying anything much during the tour, and mostly chatted with the driver. Whatever he said was also muffled and none of us heard him much. He did not have any stories. Events or historical information about Salzburg or the Lake District area. I would definitely recommend changing this guide for a trip people spend their hard earned money.

As I began searching day trip options from Munich, I read many reviews that said the most-loved day trips are to Salzburg. After reviewing a few tour options, I was torn between this one and another one that was more highly rated on Trip Advisor that travels by train (avoiding traffic). Ultimately I chose this one because it included the Lake District, and wow! I’m so glad. The lake views and boat ride were absolutely stunning. Our tour guide, Monica was very informative and shared her unique perspective as a native German. She shared lots of history as well as good photo ops. She also handled a minor dispute with an unprepared guest very professionally. Our bus driver, Boris was excellent as well. I do believe we got lucky with very little traffic. Tips: it was unusually hot for early June, but i found some respite in the shade. I recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and extra water bottles to keep on the bus throughout the day. Another thought: While I would have loved more time in Salzburg, I also would have loved more in the Lake District. Alas, there’s only so much you can squeeze into one day! Now I know where I want to spend more time if I get the opportunity to visit Austria again. Highly recommend. A highlight of my trip.

Melanie was our guide on the Salzburg + Lake Day Trip. She was very kind, informative, and gave great suggestions on how to get the most out of the trip. Dragon was our bus driver, and he was great as well! The scenery was amazing!

This was a very well organised tour - the excellent coach was ready for boarding half an hour before departure and our guide Ursula gave us plenty of information on the road. Salzburg is a truly beautiful city, and we particularly enjoyed Ursula´s swift orientation walk which showed us key places to visit in our free time which in truth was insufficient for such a beautiful place. In the afternoon we were driven through the Austrian lake district, which is very attractive, and there is an "Optional" boat trip which we decided not to take and which seemed to cause great confusion. Personally I would have preferred two extra hours in Salzburg which would have allowed us to visit the fortress or enjoyed a more relaxed meal - we really only had time for a couple of churches and a visit to Mozart´s birthplace plus a sandwich in Starbucks.

Fortress in Salzburg and Wolfgangsee were very picturesque. Downside of this trip, there really isn’t enough time to throughly enjoy both the lake and Salzburg. Really, a train or bus ride to Salzburg where you can spend 6-8 hrs walking around would be best. And then, another 6 hr trip to the lake and town. The guide was helpful on what to see and look for, a little pre-planning on YouTube would suffice. The town runs on tourism so people are very helpful.

We loved our trip to Salzburg! Monika was our guide and she was so wonderful and informative. Otto was our driver and also great. Our favorite part was the boat ride so definitely don’t miss that. I definitely recommend it for everyone.

Elisabeth, our guide, was incredible. She provided valuable lessons in history and kept us informed about what we were experiencing and what to expect. She made us feel "watched over."
