The shop is located in the middle of Wailua Shopping Plaza across the street from Kinipopo Village and the Shell gas station. You will need your own vehicle to transport boards. We will provide everything you need, it takes just a minute to load and the river is 3 minutes away. Any car will work!

At first I was hesitant to go without a guide or a roof rack, but they were able to give us clear instructions for where to go, and strap the paddle boards to the top of the small car we rented. Super fun experience. You have to take both forks off the river and visit both the fern grotto and the secret waterfall; both were stunning. I recommend wearing something like Chacos or Tevas because you will need to hike through streams to get to the waterfall. You want something good for both hiking and getting wet.

Loved every bit of this experience. I felt like Huckleberry Finn rafting down the Mississippi but in a better Jungle Hawaiian experience. Loved the hike so many beautiful things to see and the waterfall was epic! Mahalo

Heres the deal - you drive to the SUP store, they load up the paddle boards on your car, you drive 1 minute away to the river entrance, paddle board 2 miles up river (usually the wind is to your back and pushing you which makes it easier) then you leave the paddle boards & hike up to the waterfall. Its Amazing! And I was so glad not to be in a group of kayakers, they stopped alot and it was nice to independantly travel at our own pace (and beat the crowds to the waterfall ;) plus, the water feels Amazing! This was a perfect adventure for us.

We had a blast. AJ was great with helping us get our boards loaded up and off the car at the end of the day. The falls a beautiful. My only suggestion would be a little more description of where to go for the swimming hole and cliff jump.

I signed up for the tour for myself as a mom with my young kids. I didn’t know it was a self guided tour and also required to be physically strong enough to carry the paddle board and paddle for 2 miles each way plus one mile hike with some rough areas to walk. I wish the tour description had these information, then I would have not chosen it. We got really scared when we couldn’t move forward with paddling for a good 30 minutes due to the strong wind. We didn’t have a way to contact directly for a help. It was not easy for us to put the boards on top of our car ourselves. We finally completed but the whole thing took us at least 6 hours. It was a nightmare for us.

I've never done paddle boarding before and I was a bit worried before the day. Once I got on the board and started paddling, my fear was gone. I like it more than kayaking. You could paddle in any position you like, standing, sitting, kneeling... The hike to the Secret Falls was also fun, however, I would recommend bring a can of OFF with you if you go in in shorts or bathing suits. I got many mosquito bites during the walk.

I loved it! It was a great way to visit Wailua Falls. We were the only paddle boarders out there because most were kayakers. But, I highly recommend this mode of transport :-). However, you do need to be a little more fit and this should be considered exercise. Paddling back against the wind is not for the fainthearted. As a woman, there were moments where I felt I couldn't make progress. My husband did just fine. My brother-in-law kneeled and did just fine, too. But, the river is an easy paddle and you don't have much to challenge your balance. It took about an hour to get to the trailhead on paddle. Then, the hike is about 1.2 miles in. The path had incurred a lot of damage with a recent storm that washed away a lot, but was definitely manageable. Maybe not for someone who is not steady on their feet. Round trip, door-to-door was 5 hours. Overall, it was a great experience and would absolutely do it again.

The employee on staff told us to book online. And we did. He even told us to arrive by 9:00am on April 7. We arrived 9:20am. No one showed up. And no one answered our phones calls. There were two other guests were also waiting. No one called about closing the river. Or about not showing up for business. We booked 2 days prior to our trip. They should have told us the river was closed. They need to refund our payment. I expect a response.
