Such a huge place with so many informations! It could take the whole day for you to read and explore every corner of the sugar museum. We took the audio guide which is an app that you download via your phone. It leads you throught museum points explaining about Mauritius history, start od sugar production and impact on the social life. At the end od the tour you have a shop where you can taste whole bunch of different kinds of sugar and rum. Enjoy! P.S. it is a perfect activity to do when its a rainy day

Visited here whilst on honeymoon as we had been recommended it by a few people. Firstly this place is huge and filled with a lot of information. You could visit here and not need to visit any other museum on the island. With that said though it is a lot of text to read so plan your time wisely as you could spend the day reading absolutely everything. At the end of the museum path is a gift shop and a rum section which we looked forward to however if you’re driving keep in mind you won’t be able to taste them all. We had excellent service by the gentleman at the bar. Would recommend.

A very well laid out self guided tour. Very interesting story and significantly more about the history of Mauritius than I expected. Very interesting and engaging place. I would recommend improving the cooling inside. It was extremely hot and sticky inside.

Great tour ( need your mobile phone!) A great way to get the history of sugar from the island, great fro children too, aimed at all ages. Rum tasting at the end

Small coach tour with an excellent guide. Fascinating factory with a very well written story of the island. Although no longer functioning you get close up to the (UK made) machinery. The visit also included a sugar tasting (now we understand the different sugars!) and of course a rum tasting. It was surpassing just how many different types of rum they produced.

We had been recommended to visit this museum as their restaurant was supposed to be good for lunch and they were not wrong! The museum was interesting, you can download an app to listen to the tour in your chosen language but it is very long so I skipped through a few chapters. You can taste rum and sugar in the shop afterwards which had a wide variety of such products to buy but they were not cheap (like everything else in Mauritius). The restaurant was well worth the drive, it was lovely. We had lunch quite early (around noon) as we’d finished our tour which was handy as quite a few tables were already booked. The crime brûlée was one of the best I’ve ever had, definitely try it.

This is an old Sugar mill which ceased production about 20 years ago. It has been now cleverly converted into a tourist attraction. The attraction is well laid out with lots to see which are sugar related. You can learn all about how the sugar cane is harvested and the process it takes to become the commercial product that we all know. There is also a very interesting section which explains the unusual and interesting way in which sugar is used apart from just adding sweetness to tea and coffee. To do the place justice you need at least two hours here to take everything in. This is an all weather attraction to visit. It is indoors so you can hide from the sun or keep dry if it is raining . The attraction is suitable for visitors of all ages.

The rum tasting was really fun! I didn’t even wanna try, but my friend is into rum so I stayed for him, we were lucky and got Darshinee to take us on the rum experience. She was so awesome and lovely that it made me jump in as well. Great people there!

Sugar world was just one of the 4 day trips/transfers we made with Sega, and by far the worst. They simply forgot to reserve the trip with Sugar World and Fangourin restaurant. A ticket on the spot for World was no problem, but Fangourin proved to be a bad experience mostly caused by Sega's chaos. The other chaotic points were e.g. twice being 1 hour late (of which on the SW morning, and the driver was even waiting outside for 30 mins as they had given him the wrong pickup time); on two of the 4 days a quite uninformative driver; on another day a 'Speedy Gonsales' driver who flouted all traffic rules; and a Tea country tour without an itinerary given causing confusion on where exactly lunch would be served. But the welcome at the airport with garlands was fine, and the planning itself okay with lots of nice spots. And all drivers friendly and helpful within their limits. Overall only recommended if you check-crosscheck-doublecheck all details with the driver upon start each morning.

Very enriching and complete museum with activities offered at the end for tasting different types of sugar, honey and rum. I particularly thank Ms. Darshinee for her service.
