We loved our tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. He shared a lot of information about the history of the neighborhoods we visited along with the foods we tasted. We went to many restaurants and sampled a wide variety of foods. We recommend this tour without qualification or reservation. It was a ton of fun.

This is our 4th Culinary Backstreets tour. We have taken 30+ food tours and cooking classes around the world. CB is by far best in class. Sierra was our guide and provided an energetic and colorful description of an area of Queens filled with a diverse culture in a very small geographic area. Sierra is a chef and provided great insight into the dozen different stops during our all day tour. I would not hesitate to take a CB tour in any city where it is offered.

This was our 2nd food tour with Culinary Backstreets, and both were amazing. We love the company's focus on culture, history, food advocacy, and hiring the best guides. Esneider was amazing and incredibly knowledgeable on many fronts, not just about food. The tour was also fascinating as we walked through a world's worth of cultures in a few short hours. I want to experience every tour this company has to offer!

We had a fantastic food and culture walking tour with Sierra, who was an excellent guide - informative, fun and passionate about food and culture. We sampled delicious food and drinks from Mexico, Ecuador, Columbia, Pakistan, India and Nepal while exploring Queens. This tour was definitely the highlight of our trip to New York City and would highly recommend doing this tour and seeing more than just Manhattan.

This tour was so much more than I expected: Sierra introduced us to the tastes and cultures of the world in these few square miles of Queens. We learned so much about the people who settled here and brought their fabulous cuisine with them, we got to meet makers and taste delicious food. Sierra was an inspirational tour guide! I loved this experience with Culinary Backstreets and have booked the Los Angeles tour too. Can’t recommend Sierra highly enough as a tour guide: thank you!

This is a must if you are a foodie. The culture and food was amazing. Our tour guide Esneider was amazing. Being orginally from Columbia he seemed to know everyone in the neighborhoods. The food was great and there was lots of it. Walking around each neighborhood with Esneider was so much fun.

It's been 2-weeks since I took this tour and I'm still riding high. Sierra is an exceptional host. The knowledge, care, patience and genuine love for sharing food culture and culture culture are obvious. I'm a born and raised New Yorker and this was one of the most New York things I've done. 10/10 recommend, and 10/10 can't wait to do another tour. Sierra and Culinary Backstreets thank you for putting this experience on. Bianca

Exploring the amazing diversity of cultures and cuisines in Queens has always been a draw for this out-of-town visitor, but I didn't know where to start or how to navigate it. Fortunately, Esneider from Culinary Backstreets not only fed us extremely well, but educated us about the history of Queens and the different waves of immigrants that shaped the borough over time. Esneider, a Queens resident, was not only our food guide, but also our history guide throughout the different neighborhoods along Roosevelt Ave. As we ate our way through the ethnicities, Esneider explained the various waves of immigrants that passed through these neighborhoods. Not only was the food delicious, we learned how these cultures ended up in Queens. By the end, we were more than full (we skipped dinner that night) and had a much greater appreciation for the incredible diversity packed into a few miles of walking. An excellent introduction to the foods of Queens.

It was a great tour; I highly recommend it. We tasted all types of food - Mexican, Columbian, Argentinian, Ecuadorian, Uruguayan, Japanese, Himalayan, Indian, and Pakistani. Sierra, our guide, was incredible. She knew the owners of the bakeries, butchers, food carts, etc. She encouraged us to step out of our comfort zone and paced us for the five hours of eating! The tour was focused on food, but Sierra also mixed in culture and history. It was an a fun, interesting and delicious way to spend the day. I will definitely go on other culinary Backstreet Tours in other cities.

We spent a delicious day sampling an interesting mix of sweet and savory dishes (and interesting drinks) while hearing the history and stories behind the food. Don’t be intimidated, we were unfamiliar with most of the food we tried (Fuchka, anyone?). Everything was delicious and accessible – even for “picky” eaters. We loved hearing the history and stories behind the food almost as much as the food itself. It’s a full-day tour with countless stops. The distance between stops is short and the tour moves at a comfortable pace. Our guide, Sierra, was knowledgeable, attentive to the group’s needs, and even gave me a great list of budget friendly spots to share with my son.
