Your Itinerary

Teatro Massimo

The opera teathre of Palermo is famous as the location of the most dramatic scene of The Godfather III. Anyway, this monument is also a symbol of the rebirth of the city after decades of Mafia violence.

Wall of legality

The longest wall painting in Italy (70 meters long) represents some of the most known mafia victims and is part of an urban renovation project. It is both the chance to become familiar with the victims' faces and to shoot some good pictures!

Capo Street Market

(Pass by)

The colorful old open-air market is the perfect place to understand better the relationship between the Mafia and shopkeepers while walking through one of the most interesting and loud areas of the city.

Palazzo di Giustizia

Piazza della Memoria, by the Palerm Court House, is a Memorial dedicated to judges and prosecutors killed by the Mafia.

Cattedrale di Palermo

In front of the spectacular Arab-Norman Cathedral, the guide will talk about the relationship between the Catholic Church and the Mafia

Cappadonia Gelati

Along the Cassaro, you will come across with an orange sticker on their windows. Their owners - like this famous gelato place - have said NO to paying the extortion racket, or ‘pizzo’, and have joined the mafia-free critical consumption campaign promoted by the grassroots movement Addiopizzo. You too have the chance to stop and support them with some “good” shopping!

Palazzo Pretorio, Municipio di Palermo

The City Hall of Palermo has been the seat of corrupted politicians, as well as of the ones who have been fighting against the Mafia.

Linda provided a wonderful narrative of the Mafia’s influence on life in Sicily and how businesses and families were impacted. Was very happy I signed up for the tour. As an aside, there is a free museum in Palermo you might want to spend a bit of time looking at all the photographs.

The tour was very interesting. Learning about how the Mafia were part of Sicilian life and how some dedicated people fought against them.

Very passionate guide and thoroughly interesting to hear about the mafia and the shopkeepers movement against them. I think the first two stops were haven laden with talking and think this should be broken up into two more stops

The tour was very informative regarding the Mafia’s influence today and in the past. We did not realize beforehand of the movement to end the Mafia’s hold on businesses. Very interesting.

Interesting and informative! Francesco and Eduardo presented with clarity and passion—a real eye-opener about a complicated, insidious aspect of Italian history and the beautiful people working to change it. Do this tour!!

It was a truly exciting experience, 3h went like 5 minutes. Linda was the most cheerful and friendly guide. She gave us a lot of information about the recent history of anti-mafia movement, both from the legal framework and from the civilian movement perspective, and shared her own memories as she’s a proud Palermo resident. It was super interesting!

Extraordinarily informative (yet not loaded with useless facts), well-performed (but authentic), intelligent and warm-hearted, Linda for sure gave us a 3,5 hour tour, that didn't bore anyone for one second. Probably the best tour we've ever experienced. An absolute recommendation for many reasons.

The tour was over three hours and great value for money. Linda made the tour very interesting and entertaining and was very knowledgeable on the mafia presence in Sicily and its effects on the community of Palermo. More about the culture and history of significant period than the usual sight-seeing tour. Would definitely recommend.
