Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
This 7.5 acre memorial to America's longest serving President and one of the 20th Century's most important figures sits on the Tidal Basin and offers a fascinating look at America during the Great Depression and World War II. This stop is usually combined with the Martin Luther King Memorial and your guide will tell you interesting facts as you tour both scenic spots. Combined duration of both is approximately 30 minutes.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
The dramatic and beautiful open-space memorial to the iconic 20th Century American civil rights leader is the second part of this stop. The spectacular statuary and moving quotes plus unique landscaping on the Tidal Basin make the MLK Memorial a favorite in any season. Combined with the FDR Memorial, this stop takes approximately 30 minutes total.
Korean War Veterans Memorial
Your guide will lead you through this arresting Memorial that honors those that served and died during the U.N. led effort from 1950-1953 features a field of soldiers against the backdrop of the memorial serenity pool and the wall of photographs etched into the polished granite wall. This stop is usually combined with the Lincoln and Vietnam Memorials.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
The famous Maya Lin-designed "Wall" is the final stop on the morning tour. It's dramatic design and poignant treatment of the complex subject of America's war in Vietnam, including the 58,479 names carved on it make this stop especially interesting and moving. Combined with the Korean War Veterans Memorial and the Lincoln Memorial, this stop is approximately 45 minutes total.
White House
After traveling down the National Mall and seeing multiple Smithsonian Museums and the Washington Monument from the bus, you'll stop at the White House for a 2 block long walk with your guide along the North Side and Lafayette Square Park. You will see the U.S. Treasury, the White House, the West Wing, the Eisenhower Executive Building and the Blair House, plus hear interesting history and details about America's most famous residence.
