My wife and I joined several friends for a trip to the Danube delta prior to a conference in Bucharest. It was coordinated by Ilie (Sorry if misspelled !) and one of his driver guides. It was an amazing photo tour of the incredible biodiversity of the delta - truly one of the most unique areas of the world. Our guides were not only familiar with the natural history of the flora and fauna of the delta but were also expert at photographing the migratory and resident birdlife. The lodging was arranged at a wonderful boutique hotel in Mila 23 that served delicious family style meals for our group. My only regret was that I did not bring my best camera for the trip and that we couldn't make our trip longer.

What a wonderful day out we had. Left our hotel this morning at 7.30am with tour guide Dinca Alin for the quite long drive to Tulcea and the Danube Delta. It's a 4 hour trip, some freeway and some secondary roads passing through rich agricultural land, planted with various grain crops, some deciduous forests and a number of towns on the way. In some of these we saw storks in nests on top of electricity poles, and lovely horse drawn carts. The trip was made very enjoyable and pleasant by Alin's friendly, witty and humorous way of sharing information and stories and the time went quite quickly. When we arrived at Tulcea we were met by our river boat captain and the four of us set out to explore a little of this huge delta area which covers about 5,000sqkm. We meandered along numerous waterways edged with trees and reeds and into open lake areas then narrow again. On the way we saw quite a number of birds, heron, egret, tern, cormorant, pelican, swan and more. Some of the highlights were seeing bright golden and blue kingfisher, an eagle perched high in a tree, and many nesting cormorants and spoonbills. Our visit to a fisherman's family home for lunch was really special. With warm hospitality we were treated to great fish soup with creamy garlic, delicious fish roe (I think is taramasalata) for our bread and added fish, potatoes and vegetables that had been cooked in the soup. Then came the scrumptious fried fish, all of which had been freshly caught from the river by the family and cooked for us. After a really pleasant hour there, eating, enjoying and soaking up the atmosphere reclining in swing chairs it was time to return to land and the drive back to Bucharest. A thoroughly enjoyable day and a very worthwhile and valued tour. Thanks so much Alin for a memorable day.

This guided birding trip for two included three nights based in Mila 23 to tour the Delta and three nights in Tulcea to tour the Dobrogea countryside. Birding guide Marius and boatman Janut were brilliant at finding our target species and helping us get good looks at them, while also respecting the welfare of the birds. Marius speaks English well and went out of his way to ensure we knew and saw the field marks for confident identification. The hotel in Mila 23 is beautiful and the food delicious, though the quantities a bit overwhelming. The hotel in Tulcea is basic but clean and comfortable. Tour costs are posted clearly on the company website. The 221 euros/person/night was a splurge for us but the good organization, expert guiding, friendly company, and insights offered into Romanian culture made it worth it for us.

A couple with a young child, the private trip was exquisite. From the first contact eith Calina at the office, were all answers answered helpfully, friendly and professionaly to the tour itself guided by the wonderful Iliuţa ... a kind, knowledgable guide, who was patient, modest, explained everything wewanted and more, was attuned to our interests and needs, as well as our 8 years old.. it was a beatiful journey in unspoiled nature, despite the cold weather it was warm in the heart , exciting and unique. Our hosts at the MILA23 hotel and the village we went to were great, food .. I can't describe, honemade local fresh fish, pastry, Mamaliga, Gogoş, wine , just unbeleivable. I can't thank enough and recommend enough. Actually, whatever you need you'll be taken care of. Highly recommend the private tour which enables choosing, stopping, enjoying nature in serenity, DESCUPRA DELTA DUNARII is the best. And you ended feeling it was YOUR adventure, as the guide does just that, guide you, tell you stories but does not impose anything. An experience to cherish for life

We had three full days birdwatching / photographic tours out of Mila. Already the trip from Tulcea by a small boat was a superb experience in itself going through small channels & lakes avoiding the main river flow. Our guide had a superior knowledge both of the area and its wildlife, providing many interesting insights, including into the fragility and dangers to which this eco system is exposed from human interference, helping us to better understand and greatly enriching the value of this tour. We have spent the time basically without seeing other boats / people and so could focus on watching and enjoying the experience in this unique natural setting. From start to end all was perfectly organized and handled, customer orientation was superior.

We had the 3 day tour with a day of bird watching and a trip to Letea. We were especially happy about the guide Marius who explained a lot about the birds and the history of the Delta to us. His English was good and he even knew a lot of the names in German. Additionally the food in Letea was outstanding! Overall it was an ideal way of discovering the Delta.

It was a an excelent trip by boat from Tulcea city to Mila 23 village. Especially tailored for our group of 16 people, volunteers for our organization: in 2 motor boats, with guides in English, from 7:30 until 2:30 p.m. Many stops on the channels and canals and lakes, to watch the birds (pelicans, swans, cormorants, gulls, herons, terns, geese and ducks, egrets, etc.), the water lillies, the wonderful green landscape in June.

You have to go to this trip. It is exceptional without any doubts. Nice, educated and enthusiastic guide. It was very relaxing and educational. It worth any penny.
