Rooms: Quiet, very clean and classy finish. Nearby activities: Power & Light good walking distance-easy drive everywhere else in the KC area.. Safety: Urban and some homeliness in the area but walking distance to power & light. Walkability: Very walkable to Power/Light Dist. Food & drinks: Restaurant in lobby is great-live music (mostly jazz) cool vibe. Noteworthy details: Renovated old building with cool amenities.

We were very disappointed in our experience at this hotel. We booked our room via American Express Travel, which apparently uses Expedia as a booking/reservation service. When we arrived I was speaking to the valet and my wife went to the desk to check in. Within 30 seconds as I was right behind her the front desk attendant or manager already told her that we didn’t have a reservation that night as it was scheduled for the night before and we marked as a no show. I went to my reservation on my phone and showed her my reservation was scheduled for the correct night. She told me since it was reserved by a third party there was nothing I could do except book another night at the current rate. I then proceeded to call American Express Travel and after explaining the situation, I was placed on hold. Amex called the hotel and after a few minutes it seemed it was an error either on the hotel or the 3rd party booking service. It was confirmed that we did in fact book the correct night. Amex came back from hold and told me it was resolved and that we should be able to check in. While we were just a few feet away I listened to the front desk agents talk to each other and almost seemed upset that the rate was not enough for the room. It took several minutes for them to acknowledge me as I stood in front of them waiting to be assisted. I was then told it was worked out and that they would have my room shortly. Once we checked in the room had many imperfections and poor workmanship, not to mention the view. In summary, I felt the front desk staff judged us a certain way because we booked via a 3rd party service. Then once they had to give us a room it was a room that was in poor condition along with a terrible view. We regularly travel through KC and will not be visiting this hotel in the future.
