Hollander Boutique Hotel

Absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Mi Amor! Stunning views, exceptional service, and a peaceful atmosphere. Perfect for relaxation and romance. The hotel is in the park, in walking distance to the ruins and white sand beaches. The restaurant at the hotel is excellent. Highly recommend for a getaway.

Below is an honest review of everything you need to know! Overall hotel experience: 3.7 out of 5 (you'll understand as you read) Check-in experience/front desk: 3.5/5, the staff is very kind and professional, especially when you ask questions. They will share their local knowledge and always available to answer any questions you have. Sadly, we did not experience any type of "over and above" reception, it was just nice and simple. We did not receive a bottle of Mezcal either (as was mentioned in one of our emails). I asked about that on our last day and they explained that it had to do with us reserving through Hilton and not the Hotel website (regardless, it would have been nice if that was caught and offered to us that day). They offered it then but it was too late. Lifetime Hilton Diamond Member: 0/5, doesn't matter, not recognized other than handing us a sheet and telling us "here are your Hilton perks" (continental breakfast/minimal, free wi-fi, late check-out, upgrade if available). Generally, at the upscale Hilton properties, we are offered an upgrade but that was not mentioned at all. Also, they were very clear on the "continental breakfast", that it was ONLY coffee, juice, and 2 pieces of toast. That's the first time our breakfast was minimized. It was disappointing. (and I'm GF so no toast, lol) Views from the cabanas: 5/5, the beautiful ocean, crashing waves against the rocks, and cabanas, all so lovely! Housekeeping team: 5/5, they were awesome, our room was extremely clean, they did a fantastic job! Love the tea and chocolate night cap! Pool view room: 4/5, we were in room #4, it is up one flight of stairs and has a balcony that overlooks part of the pool, you can also see a little bit of the ocean, but the tree in front of the room blocks half the views (see pic). The room is well appointed with a king size bed (it is firm, along w/ firm pillows), beach towels/bag, lots of hangers in the closet, safe, etc. The decor is nice. The A/C is good. There's a couple things that need tending to (closet doors off track, curtains coming off track, etc.). The bathroom is fine, lots of mildew on the window shades though. I'll admit I was concerned when I found a bottle of Raid but thankfully there were NO bugs!! Mi Amor Restaurant: 4/5, the food and drinks are very good. I wish they would change the drink special daily though. It was 2 for 1 Aperol Spritz all four days we were there, bummer. At all of our meals (4), we waited quite a while, which seems to be the norm in MX. One morning German was clearly annoyed w/ us and another couple because we wanted to sit outside and the tables were wet. But it was a beautiful morning!! Nobody minded the wet tables. He eventually cleared them off, no big deal. Decor/Design: 4/5, they do capture the "50's Acapulco Vibe" well but there are some areas that need refreshing (see pics). Of course I understand being that close to the ocean brings issues. Sister resorts: We read in other reviews that people enjoyed a free drink at the sister resorts but when we went to Mezzanine, we told them we were at Mi Amor and that didn't matter, lol, we did not get one. (P.S. Pad Thai is bland but Drunken Noodles are good) Beach access: You need to walk 5 minutes away to Mezzanine and there is beach access right after the entrance. It is a beautiful white sand beach! Bike rental: You can walk 3 minutes to the property next to them and rent from there. They will be rusty though! It is around $17 USD per day. All in all it was a quaint little stay with lots of positives and a few negatives.

I stayed at the Hollander for work, but after my experience I will always stay here for leisure, too. The atmosphere is top notch. I've never felt so comfortable at a hotel. The boutique style of the rooms and the rest of the hotel was perfect. We ate several meals at the hotel, trying many dishes, and we were all amazed at how delicious all of them were. The coffee and pastries/desserts sold in the little shop off the Tap Room were great. We really enjoyed our server Vince at the outside bar. He was one of the best bartenders/servers I've ever had. AK was equally as phenomenal. I cannot wait to visit when it's not for business so I can enjoy the hotel even more.
