Kauai Inn

We loved that this was close to everything we needed but off the beaten path and tucked in a local neighborhood with a gorgeous scenic backdrop. The amenities were great-nice pool, laundry facilities, and they even had beach towels, chairs, and umbrella we could borrow for our beach day for no extra charge. Staff was amazing. Rooms were a little dated but very clean (it just let authentic.) We had a great experience. Rooms: Room wasn’t fancy but very clean with no problems. Safety: Felt very safe.

Meh. Staff was nice and friendly, but several drawbacks to this place became immediately apparent once we arrived and throughout our stay, and we won't stay there again. 1) There is virtually no signal, 5G or WiFi. The WiFi keeps going in and out and if you don't have 5G, that's a problem. 2) This is in a tsunami warning zone. It's right down at the sea level in some respects. 3) They charge $150ish for a luau that they themselves put on, and it was sparsely attended and silly. We could see it from our balcony and other guests could see it from their windows. Yet you charge $150 for that? 4) Housekeeping takes a while to make happen. I saw only two housekeepers: one man and one woman. The man appeared to be doing all the work, and though we requested it one day, we didn't get it two days later. 5) Cramped quarters. The pictures don't do the place justice. The bathrooms leave a LOT to be desired. Very cramped. 6) The A/C. They obviously retrofit their complex with A/C after the fact, punching holes in all the walls and inserting window A/C units which are LOUD. They do the job, yes, but at a cost of noise and peace. 7) Their "breakfast" is simple pastries, yogurt, fruits and milks/juices. Where's the warm stuff? 8) Small 3' pool that was always being cleaned and they leave the robot in there and wander off for hours, so you're not sure if you can go in there. 9) Ants. Tiny ants throughout the bathroom, on the dining tables, by the food. Ugh. 10) Laundry? Yeeshk. TWO washer and dryer combos for the entire complex, and what they charge just to use them is ridiculous. The only thing I'll say is "bring bags of quarters."
