We treated ourselves with a suite so my room comments are about this room - which was superbly comfortable. We were very happy with our choice of hotel. We were arm;y welcomed and our room was ready a few minutes after we arrived which is before offical check in but still respectably in the afternoon. As previously reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is superbly located for subway access and this made our various theatre visits super easy. A reasonably recent reviewer said that staff treated them like family and I'd really like to know how you achieve that status? Our staff interactions were fine but nothing special. We had a problem with a coffee machine which was resolved superbly fast and there seemed to be not issue if you ask for extra coffee or tea supplies which was appreciated. This may be a cultural difference but I am constantly surprised with the fact that upmarket hotels in the US provide paper cups and no wine glasses for guests to use. In every other place in the world proper crockery is supplied. There is a convenient 24 hour store over the raod if, like me. you prefer real milk in your coffee - again - something that is usually supplied in any other country in the world. These are all easy opportunities or a quality hotel like the Lucerne to create a point of difference. Breakfast discounts are provided for the attached restaurant which was consistently good and as a result of these vouchers we visited it every day. By two big issues however is that the hotel was impossible to communicate with by e mail before check in or pre reservation when I had questions. I'm assuming they would have answered the phone but I was uninclined to make an international phone call and deal with time differences. No responses. Ever. So until the point of arrival I was really nervous about my reservation. Finally - a warning on check out. There doormen will arrange a fixed price airport transfer. Take their time recommendations and add at least an hour. I added half an hour and was nearly late for check in for my flight. These guys should be the experts and they weren't. Overall however this is a luxe hotel; well located; clean; and quiet. The lifts work. It's not too big and staff generally want to help. We certainly will recommend ti to friends. On a final note - of all the hotels we stated in on our recent USA trip, they were the only one to send a e mail asking for feedback. That's a good start.

Personally, I loved staying at this hotel. The rooms are large, very comfortable and clean. The staff is friendly and there is a metro station a 3-minute walk away. The surroundings are not as bustling as in Time Square and it is two blocks from Central Park.

It is very well connected, close to the metro and bus routes. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is expensive in Mexican pesos but its food is of great quality and variety. There are delicious dishes. Rooms: Clean and comfortable Nearby activities: It is very close to Broadway Avenue, the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. Safety: Well, like all big cities, you have to go with care and caution. Walkability: Yes, during the day it is safer and especially in crowded places. Food & drinks: What they sell in the USA, on the street: hamburgers, hot dogs, Arabic food. But there are also places with decent pizzas, others delicious that reminded me of Italian pizzas; thin, crispy and delicious. Noteworthy details: It is a building with history.
