Whether it’s your anniversary party or you are helping with ideas for the Event, Anniversaries are a wonderful way for the lucky couple to celebrate their union with family, friends and loved ones. Every year is a landmark and with themes growing from humble Paper anniversary after one year, the relationship grows to Wood anniversary at 5 years, beginning to shine with the 10th anniversary - the Tin anniversary. Porcelain-anniversary marks 20, Silver anniversary marks 25 years, 30th with precious Pearls. From 40 years with Rubies, celebrations are with more minerals - the major point of the 50th anniversary is brought home by Gold, and for those lucky enough the 60th & 75th anniversaries are celebrated with diamonds (or sometimes platinum for the 75th anniversary).

To mark such a special occasion, it’s important to consider how the couple want to celebrate their day! The feelings of the lucky couple can almost be forgotten in the eagerness to celebrate the landmark. Is the plan a big party with as a many loved ones as possible? Something small and intimate with only the closest and most important friends? Either way there are many things to consider.

The date is the easy one, as at least you have a starting point with the date of wedding! Although if it falls on a weekday you can always consider the weekend either side of the date. Now you can consider the party venue and size matters. Thinking of grand celebrations? Then think about a large hall or hotel conference room. Smaller parties have many options with function rooms and restaurants will be happy to take anniversary bookings.

Many Event Venues will be able to provide catering and a bar, but perhaps you should consider making use of your own caterers and benefit from more choice and special menus – you may even want to consider something on trend like a food truck which could bring some unique experiences. In-house bars and staff will be an easy option, but again, selecting a mobile bar (either wet or dry) will give you more control over what your guests will experience. By selecting your own venue, you may also need to consider how to decorate with balloons, tablecloths etc; and will you be thinking of marking the occasion with a photographer? Which will allow everyone to go home with something to remember the evening with. Will the Event Venue provide music and sound equipment? Can you bring in your own DJ or live music, and does the venue require a music licence for the evening?

Smaller more intimate celebrations may require less planning, but it doesn’t mean the options are less! Private Dining rooms and restaurants come ready prepared for anniversary celebrations; and may even have special menus for groups. Another way to celebrate would be to have a day or night out, enjoying the local sights, perhaps a trip together on a luxury river cruise as the sun goes down, expensive theatre tickets for a spot of culture, some champagne at a famous hotel or attraction; and are your considering some unique transportation? A luxury limousine, a vintage car or even a horse drawn carriage?
