Miradouro Pico Dos Barcelos

One of the oldest view point in Funchal that offer a stunning view all over Funchal Bay

Valley of the Nuns

Scenic drive up to the centre of the island and famous Nun's Valley

Pico do Arieiro

Pico do Areeiro, the third-highest point on the island of Madeira, is located at an altitude of 1,818 metres. From this elevated spot, the ample view allows observers to extend their gaze over the unique grandeurs of Madeira's Mountainous Massif, with the Atlantic Ocean in the background. Besides the wide view over the central mountain range, from Pico do Areeiro you can also see Ponta de São Lourenço, Curral das Freiras and, on clear days, the island of Porto Santo.

Ribeiro Frio

After exploring Pico do Arieiro, we are ready to start the journey towards the north of the island. Descending to the small village of Ribeiro Frio where we will have the opportunity of going for a easy Levada walk in the middle of the Laurissilva Forest this trail will be an opportunity to come across indigenous and endemic species, offering different shades of green to the Laurissilva forest.

Faial

(Pass by)

Scenic drive, thought lovely view points of the Northeast and off road adventure in one of the Old Royal paths that connects Faial to Santana.

Santana

In Santana we will visit some hidden gens with stunning views over the Northeast coast trough some fantastic off road paths

Santana

One of the most visit areas in Madeira where you can see and enter the iconic traditional triangular Madeira houses and we them will stop for lunch (optional extra - not included in the price ).

Levada Da Serra Do Faial

From Santana we will head to Faial where we will stop to visit the Guindaste sky-glass viewpoint, this place offers a breath taking view over the north coast of Madeira. where we can contemplate the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean that bathes the island.

Porto da Cruz

From the Northeast of the island we will cross towards the East part for visit to the villager of Porto da cruz where you will have opportunity to visit to the rum factory where we can enjoy some of the local produce rums or our famous poncha. (Drinks not included - optional)

Ponta de Sao Lourenco

To finish the day we will visit the most southern east part of Madeira, fantastic place, so different of the rest of the island.

Funchal

We initially had a plan to rent a car and drive around the island to see the popular picturesque spots. Rental company mixed up our car order, resulting in us not being able to get one so last minute… we went on facebook, desperate for a rental car company but someone recommended this tour. I typically wouldn’t think to do one, hence why we rented a car, however, this was such a blessing in disguise. This was not your average tour guide experience, this was very different. The tours are very small (my boyfriend & I were with two other people), which I preferred over a massive bus. It felt as if you were driving in a car with some friends on a road trip! Ricardo took us around to all of the hot spots, plus extra locations he knows/found as a local …areas you won’t see pop up on google or overcrowded with tourists. He is so knowledgeable, told us so much about the island along with some personal stories too. He’s so easy to talk to. We never felt rushed, we were able to take our time, explore more, take photos and take in the experience. This tour was a very unique… it was so personal. We had such a great time, so much so, that we booked another tour! If we visit Madeira again, we will book more. This was one of the best parts of our trip! Thank you Ricardo Emily & Angelo ♥️

We were collected on time by Ricardo in his 4x4 and shared the day with one other couple . Ricardo is a knowledgeable guide and clearly passionate about Madeira and as others have said he is also a really nice guy !! The tour featured loads of stops ,many of which were off the beaten track avoiding the crowds and providing views that you certainly wouldn’t get without such an experienced guide . The lunch stop was stunning. Ricardo had reserved a table overlooking the ocean and we had some of the best food we had eaten on the island . If you come to Madeira do this tour - you won’t be disappointed 😎

Fantastic day out with Ricardo, showing us very many viewpoints away from the crowds. Visits included lunch at a beautiful hotel in Santana with gorgeous views from the balcony and great food. Called at the Rum factory, really interesting seeing how they made the rum. Enjoyed the off roading on the Royal Road. Ricardo also helped us with planning future walks, showing best routes and starting points. We were very lucky to be the only 2 people on this trip in Ricardo's spotless Mitsubishi Pajero which was such a treat to have one to one service. Great value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend his company for a great day out. Thanks also to Ricardo for a special tasty treat at one of the viewpoints. Epic day!

My husband and I went on this excellent tour with one other gentleman. Ricardo is a native of Madeira and shared the history, nature, geography and culture of the island. He was very responsive to our questions. He took us to see many fabulous and varied sights. We particularly enjoyed the remote jeep sections through the farming communities. His jeep is in very nice condition for rough dirt roads bits. We had a delicious lunch with the best view of the rugged coastline. The trip was the highlight of our trip to Madeira and gave us a real perspective about the land and people. Ricardo, thank you for a very memorable day!

We spent an incredible nine hours with Ricardo. His knowledge of all things related to Madeira was outstanding. he is well educatedand interesting, warm hearted, knowledgeable, and very interested in maintaining his island for future generations. We never tired of listening to the history of the island and his wonderful stories. He took us to places that most tourists never see, including a secret waterfall. We promised not to share it on social media. If I could rate Ricardo and the tour six stars, I would!
