This was my first VoiceMap “tour,” and I thought it really enhanced my drive from Auburn to Placerville but giving me clear directions and lots of interesting information. The app was pretty easy to use and this “tour guide” was knowledgable and well-spoken. I will definitely be trying more of their recordings.

Delightful way to spend a couple hours learning about scenic area near my home. My friend was visiting from the East Coast and loves the Gold Rush areas.

Finding a clean restroom once you started the tour along Hwy 49 was bit of a challenge. Best to take care of that before starting the tour in Auburn.

We would definitely recommend this tour. One suggestion for others is to start the tour early to allow enough time to enjoy the recommended spots before they close. There is lots of turns going for anyone who gets car sick. Beautiful scenery, nature walks and river is stunning so clear.

We enjoyed the tour. The comments are interesting and informative and the app works very well so that you can just drive and listen.

My father and I really liked this trip. The road was winding so be prepared. We took our time and had fun. We were disappointed that ALL the stops were closed (Except the hikes, of course.). One mine museum was only open summer (we went in March) and the winery (which was a big draw for us) is closed mon-tues-wed. So PLEASE check before going. Even a drive-In park was closed. We ended up eating in Placerville, which was great, and learned a lot about the gold rush. When you book, it seems you have to pick a date but you don’t. You download and go whenever you want. The tech is really neat telling us where to turn and what to look for. There is live GPS map as well. We each used on AirPod for clear hearing for my elderly father. Worked great.

I was trying to load the tour and had many problems downloading the app and the tour. Even after I finally got the app to download by putting in the confirmation code, and I could see that the program had downloaded, before I could actually play the tour, a screen came up stating that I had to purchase the tour -- which I had already done. I clicked on the purchase, and got a message that it was downloading the tour -- which it had already done. but this time the message stated that there was a problem with the download. I had to call the NY office 3 times to get a fix -- but the final result was that even after everything had downloaded, I could not get any audio. Wasted an hour trying to get the tour to work, and it never did. But the person that I spoke with was very helpful, and promptly refunded the price of the tour.

The first of a series of 4 driving tours of Northern California's gold country which my wife and I took over a recent weekend getaway. We were looking to explore some new and interesting areas and found these little gems. This first tour kicked off in the bustling little community of Auburn. We have driven by it hundreds of times on the way to Lake Tahoe but hadn't really thought to stop. Really glad we did. A cute little old town with some great restaurants was the perfect start to our two day adventure. This tour had us exploring some really interesting museums and beautiful back roads along California's Highway 49 (names after the famed prospecting 49ers). The highlight for us was the Marshall Gold Discovery Historic Park where they have recreated the original Sutter's Mill where gold was first discovered. Several great nature hikes along the way and even a cute little winery where we got to taste some really interesting local wines. And near the end the Gold Bug Mine is a must see.
