ACTUALLY VISITED JUNE 2019. However, my review was sitting in DRAFTS rather than being posted. My mistake, I guess, but since I took the time to write a review after visiting, I wanted to post it anyway. Here is what I wrote at the time of my visit: The Alaska Railroad was a well run adventure. We left the depot on time, had a personable staff helping us, enjoyed a good meal in the dining car, had unlimited beverages (non alcoholic), and a great and comfortable ride! You can purchase alcohol and/or snacks...card only...no cash. The train arrived to the depot on time. They got the luggage off the train amazingly fast for this many customers. This in itself was fun to watch! Hotel shuttles and taxis were waiting when we arrived. We did not see much wildlife on the ride, but the staff alerted us when they saw something. Highly recommended!

Everything about this train trip exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly, courteous, very helpful & knowledgeable about the trip. The trip was comfortable in Star Class with a delicious meal & a variety of drinks. We were in awe & amazement at the beautiful & spectacular scenery that we encountered around every bend of the trip. We 100% recommend this experience for all ages and are so very happy that we decided to choose Star Class travel.

The scenic views from the train during the trip are no less than spectacular. The timing of the trip means that you have a front row seat to a sunset over the coast from start to finish and light lasts nearly until the trip ends. Really great. Dining car was pretty good but you can't really relax in there; too much pressure to vacate so as to accommodate the passenger load. Granted, the railway has no real control over them but people do troop up and down the train constantly. Upon arrival in Anchorage, the scene at the baggage claim awning was among the most chaotic I've ever witnessed. Very stressful...

The train ride was amazing!! I would suggest not purchasing tickets thru TripAdvisor as they didn’t get me tickets until 4 days after order & after I had to email multiple times. I purchased a set directly from railroad for less money. Since TripAdvisor wouldn’t refund me, Alaska Railroad did for my second set. Buy direct and you will have an amazing time!

This is really worth doing. Beautiful scenery all the way. I took the 6pm train and it wasn't crowded. Staff were generally helpful and informative. Snacks or meals available on train.

Great way to sit back and see some of the greatest landscapes on the planet! The crew was super friendly and helpful and regularly pointed out the key views before we arrived so we could get cameras prepped!

I highly recommend this train trip. Very comfortable seating, beautiful scenery, so relaxing. All railway staff were friendly and helpful. An all-around enjoyable experience!

The most memorable were the glacial views. We also got to see wildlife on our way. The train was comfortable and the viewing dome was very nice. With rain cleaning everything, the landscape became more green and amazing.

Wow! I can’t say enough great things about the employees and crew of the Alaska Railroad. I was running late due to a doctor apptmt in Seward and couldn’t get an Uber or taxi to take me to the train station. I was going to miss my train, and an employee of the train came to pick me up. The train only left a few minutes late, and I will forever be grateful to the employee that picked me up. This is a company that truly cares about their customers! Also, it was beautiful views out the window!
