    Even though the trullis are unique, I didn't expect the tour to be so interesting. But it was. Patrick spoke great English and was very engaging. We stopped a lot for pictures. Even though the tour was on audio, he would stop and fill in additional facts and info, he turned on some Italian music when nothing was being played, Also, the meeting place was right across the street and gad free parking. And a restroom you could use.

    The tour is not cheap (€90 for 2 adults and 1 child) but is a great way to see the city, especially when it is hot. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable and shared lots of information about the sights we saw on the tour. Highly recommend if you are in Matera for a short amount of time.

    Disappointing- what to expect? This is a Tuk Tuk taxi ride around town with a little recorded English commentary about churches ONLY. There is absolutely no information on the history of Matera. The driver who did not introduce himself is only a driver and not a guide. He only spoke a little English so it was impossible to ask any questions.

    The way to know the Sassi is by walking and we did it, which was absolutely stunning! However, we also decided to give a try at the Tuk Tuk tour thinking that we would probably see something different... we didn't! It just follow a little road that the cars pass by and there were no surprises at all. Additionally, our driver had no personality... did not even attempt to talk to us. Inside the vehicle there was a little speaker to share some stories about Matera, but even that was not well done. We loved Matera, but this ride was a waste of time and money!

    Sassi di Matera

    Matera is one of the oldest cities in the world whose territory preserves evidence of human settlements starting from the Paleolithic and without interruptions up to the present day. It represents an extraordinary page written by man through the millennia of this very long history. World Heritage Site since 1993 and European Capital of Culture in 2019. With the classic and typical Ape Calessino (tuk tuk), an Italian myth, much appreciated by families, especially with children in wheelchairs, we will cross the Old Town and the Sassi, as they are very tiring on foot, especially in the summer, whizzing through the streets and characteristic alleys, making small stops for photos and videos and to visit churches in the squares and characteristic Case Grotte (Case Museo)
