Your Itinerary

Castelo de Palmela

The Palmela Castle it’s a Medieval defense fortress that was home of the warrior monks of the military Order of Santiago da Espada. For centuries they lived there and founded a monastery known for its gothic style. This castle was first conquered in the 12th century by the troops of Afonso Henriques, the first Portuguese king, but was successively conquered and destroyed by the Christians and the Mours until the late 14th century. The castle is situated between the estuaries of the river Tagus and the river Sado, in the Natural Park of Arrabida. On clear days, you can see Lisbon from up of its tower.

Parque Natural da Arrabida

The Arrabida Nature Park is located next to the Atlantic Ocean, between Setubal and Sesimbra. Its incomparable natural beauty full of chalk cliffs, green vegetation, breathtaking beaches and ocean coast views makes Arrabida a natural paradise and a national relic. Here you can experiment various radical activities, such as climbing, speleology and diving (these activities should be done by accredited companies). Arrabida is also characterized by its natural beaches with fine sand and transparent waters. In 2010 the beach of Portinho da Arrábida was considered one of the “Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal” in the category Beaches and Cliffs. Its seabed is a nature reserve, being prohibited underwater fishing.

Jose Maria de Fonseca

Famous for its wines, especially the Moscatel. Several wines and sparkling wines are produced from the Moscatel grapes, always having a sweet savor. In general, they are best served cold and accompany desserts very well.

Restaurante Club Capítulo

With a unique landscape, Sesimbra is famous for its long sandy shores, like Meco Beach, and imposing cliffs (especially the Espichel Cape). This important fishing town is well known by its famous fresh fish and seafood. The octopus rice and the Açorda de Marisco stand out mainly because they are made with fresh fish captured in the sea coasts of Sesimbra. These dishes are most appreciated in Portugal and are a gastronomic symbol of the region.

Baia de Setubal

The Setúbal peninsula is a true sanctuary of knowledge, culture and gastronomic flavors. The main tourist attractions of this city are the Monastery of Jesus of Setúbal, the Saint Julian Church and the 16th-century fortress of Saint Filipe. The streets of Setubal express everywhere the relationship with the sea. The gastronomy is also a key feature of the region. Some of Portugal’s most known dishes have their origin here such as Fried Calamari and other seafood dishes. In short, the city and the mountains, the river Sado and natural beaches, the historical monuments and gastronomic delights make Setubal one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal.

Azulejos de Azeitao

In Azeitão, there’s a factory of handmade tiles that maintains the manual manufacturing process, with origins in the 18th century, using a stoneware technique. In this factory you can attend free workshops and learn about the various stages of the manufacturing process. The Azulejo is one of Portugal’s most iconic art processes. You can finish the experience by painting your own tile.
