Montmartre

Iconic district in the north of Paris, Montmartre is nicknamed the “Village”. Famous for the great number of artists mainly painters who lived in its steep cobble-stone streets, Montmartre is currently one of the most visited areas in the City of Lights. This is why we offer to show you the real local side of Montmartre taking through the little local streets.

Moulin Rouge

Our tour begins opposite a quintessential Parisian landmark: the Moulin Rouge windmill. We’ll start the climb up the hill, spotting the café where the film Amélie was shot and Van Gogh’s home as we go. Our first stop will be at one of Paris’ best bakers, winner of many prestigious prizes for its bread and pastries. Here we will taste one of France’s most famous patisserie: a deliciously buttery croissant. Is there any better way to start your morning in Paris?

Le Mur des Je t'aime

After learning how to say “je t’aime” in 250 different languages and listening to the crazy legend about the first Parisian bishop, we’ll climb a few more stairs to discover one of Montmartre’s loveliest squares and the one-time home of Pablo Picasso. Hear the stories of struggle endured by many local artists here before they found fame and fortune.

Le Moulin de la Galette

We’ll pass by one of the last remaining windmills in Paris, now totally privatised, then we’ll promenade down the “Champs-Élysées” of Montmartre, where we’ll see some of the most expensive houses in the capital. Your guide will then lead you through a totally secret passage that reveals not only one of the best views over Paris but also one of the cutest cobbled streets in the city!

Au Lapin Agile

Next up are the famous vineyards of Montmartre. Almost on the top of the hill they overlook the suburbs of Paris and produce a surprisingly good red wine. Opposite the vineyard is the entrance to the famous Cabaret, Le Lapin Agile, where your guide will tell you the legend of Lolo, the painting donkey.

Basilique du Sacre-Coeur de Montmartre

Finally we’ll walk to the iconic Basilica Sacré-Coeur, where we’ll stop to admire a view of the church from a perspective that very few tourists know about, leading onto our grand finale of another stunning Paris panorama. Before you go, don’t forget to pick your guide’s brains for the latest on what to see and do during your stay in Paris.

Paloma was our guide, and she did a wonderful job. Clearly very passionate about Parisian culture and super knowledgeable about the area. Many interesting stories to tell, and we really appreciated the croissants!

Courtney_B

Paloma (our guide) was so fabulous. She was super knowledgeable and courteous and patient and seems to really enjoy showing people the best of Montmartre. It was our favorite tour of the trip and we highly recommend a tour in this part of Paris.

This was one of the best tours that we have ever taken~! Our guide, Sarah, was such a treat! She was a wealth of knowledge, sharing some of the most interesting facts with us about the area, as well as other local attractions. One of our favorite parts of the tour was when she led us to a boulangerie and provided free croissants to try, while she gave a complete history of the treat and how they came to be such a staple in the French diet. 11 out of 10 stars!

Great way to see and learn about the beautiful Montmartre area. Our tour guide Linda was punctual, knowledgeable and friendly.

Meeting place needs to be better described. It states Place Blanche but there a no signs that indicate such a place. The meeting point was at the entrance to the Blanche metro. This is what the meeting place should state on Viator. Additionally, description states anyone can do the tour, but no wheel chairs. Unfortunately that is not true. I am 70 years old and in good physical shape. The steep climb would be too much for me, so we did not finish the tour. This would be considered a strenuous tour and should state so.

This is slow paced tour for somewhat more appealing to European tourists than Americans. For example there were stories about French movie Amelie and singer Dalida including visiting Dalida's house (outside), her bust. My American friends have never heard of these and not a lot of interest. Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris with Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams would be much more interesting story. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable but mostly the story line they stick to on this tour better for Europeans. Also we were told to be at the meeting spot 15 min early which we did and in fact our tour guide didn't show up until 5-10 min after the start time. Then we waited for another missing guest and we were transferred to another guide. Bottom line is we wasted good half an hour.

5 out of 5. Camila was fantastic. So very knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the area. Camila was very easy for an Aussie to understand as she spoke very clearly. This tour is a “must do” when in Paris.

Amy_F

Camilla was a wonderful, engaging, kind and informative guide. We all were really glad we decided to do this tour! Smaller group size and she took us on some quiet quaint streets on our way up to Sacre Couer. Camilla provided a lot of great information, and the best croissants we’ve ever had!!

Marc_G

Great tour. Highly recommended. Even in the rain our guide made it fun and informative. The walk is long and uphill, but do-able for anyone in moderate physical condition.
