Velo Service - Bike Rental & Tours

Meet your guide, and then set off to explore the city’s picturesque streets and try the local food.

Basilica San Nicola

On your walk around the Old Town, you’ll visit the Basilica of St. Nicholas, dedicated to the saint whose legend became the modern-day Father Christmas. See the crypt where his holy relics remain, and hear the history behind the church and the city.

Castello Normanno Svevo

Continue to wander the authentic narrow streets of the Old Town and learn about its history and culture; The Norman Swebian Castle hosts the collection of plaster casts and temporary art exhibitions.

Admission Not Included

Cattedrale di San Sabino

The cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Bari-Bitonto, dedicated to Saint Sabinus, a bishop of Canosa, whose relics were brought here in the 9th century. Here you will appreciate underground roman walls named Succorpo.

Piazza del Ferrarese

Piazza Ferrarese has always been one of the access points to the old town which, with its narrow streets, alleys and small openings, extends from Piazza Ferrarese - Piazza Mercantile up to the Normanno -Svevo castle. During recent restoration, which involved not only the square but also the surrounding buildings, a short stretch of the ancient Via Appia – Traiana came to light, built by the Romans in the early second century A.D.

Piazza Mercantile

The piazza has always represented the heart of commercial and administrative activities in the city due to the presence of the city market (not currently in this area) and of the palazzo Sedile, which is the historical reference point of Bari city Hall. Today, for the citizens of Bari it is an irreplaceable meeting point.

Anna the guide was outstanding. She was energetic, passionate and full of knowledge about Bari and its history. The extreme heat was out of her control which made standing in streets for the eating/tasting experience less enjoyable. The only negative thing I have to say is to correct the meeting spot that gets printed on the tickets. We did not have wifi and the location on my ticket noted the pier as meeting location which was very far from the Velo headquarters actual starting spot. We had to run in the heat to try and find this location. Others had different starting locations on their tickets in our group. As a result we left the tour early due to heat exhaustion.

This was a real disappointment! We booked a private food tour of Bari so we could tailor make our experience. We are real foodies and we wanted to see Bari off the beaten track. I emailed the tour office numerous times explaining our needs and was told everything would be OK and we could discuss our needs with the guide. When we arrived, we were told the tour is the tour and we will just go to the places that they have mapped for all their food tours! Having paid over double for a private tour , we would have had the same experience had we gone in a group. The tour was supposed to be 3 hours but after 2 hours we were told the tour is ending and we need to rush along. Having notified the guide that we are vegetarian ,we were given some pretty uninteresting food stuffs in tourist spots and by no means places locals would visit. At each stop were asked to wait outside while the guide brought us food. Surely the point of a good tour is to go in to the shop/deli/ restaurant, see it being made, talk to the people who make it and learn about it. The guide knew very little about the history or origins of the food. I appreciate she was well versed on the history of the city but this was a food tour not a historical tour. We feel very let down. Viator please make direct contact to resolve the matter. Not worth paying a premium for a private tour!

We took part to the walking tour in Bari vecchia + orecchiette making. It was amazing, Teresa, our guide couldn’t be better in any meaning. Prepared, friendly and fun. We also tasted focaccia and ice-cream! Only1detail to adjust in the website is a bit more clarity in the price. Anyway the tour worth every single cent. Thank you guys, we loved it, Rossella and Martijn

My husband and I have just returned from a trip to Puglia and Bari. We booked this walking tour as we thought this would make the best of the day as we only had one day in Bari. The tour took us to the most important places in the historic centre of Bari and we stopped on the way for some focaccia, oriechetti pasta, gelato ice cream and cheese and wine tasting. Everything was really good and we really enjoyed the tour and the food. The guide Anna Rita was very knowledgeable and explained everything we wanted to know. I do recommend this tour to anyone going to Bari.

We did this tour on Good Friday. Michelangelo was our guide and he was excellent. Very informative and interesting. The tour lasted over 3 hours. We saw all the main areas of the city and also tried out quite a few different types of local foods. We were the only 2 people on the tour which was great. I would highly recommend doing this tour. They were a great company.
