Absolutely the worst tour we have ever done. The guide was a complete joke I emailed Viator for a refund and got no reply so here is my review. I booked a food tour to try authentic German Food. Our tour guide, Cesar our guide showed up to the hotel. It wasn’t a great started. He put the company down straight from the start. Saying they keep 65% of what we have paid for the tour, he gets 30% and the 5% is what is spent on food. He also told us that alcohol wasn’t going to be included as it’s too expensive and Berlin is becoming too expensive . When we left the hotel, I had no interest in listening to this guy. As he told us we were staying in the depressing side of Berlin. The haunted area as it’s where all the war happened. After showing us the one interesting thing, the Berlin wall he decided to tell us that he is a stay at home Dad with low self-steam and a nobody that no one will notice, and his wife brings home the bacon . After this story we got the train where he talked to himself, calling himself a genus how quick the train was compare to the tube. Once we reached our stop, we took us through a park of homeless people to reach what looked like an abandon beer garden. Where we insisted that we had a beer and Gin. As we continued to say no, he kept pushing and said he would pay for it himself. While we quickly drank our drinks we heard his continued story about this family. His wife is from the Ukraine, he was telling us he was sad his refugee mother-in-law didn’t get bombed while escaping on the train to Germany. Then he laughed, no really I love my mother-in-law. Laughed and then said ‘no I don’t) . We left the beer garden and was taken to the Christmas markets, where we walked quickly through. We were taken to a blown-up Church (Its was sad), then to another Church that he wasn’t impressed about. Then we quickly lead us back through the markets and to a food stall that served Curry Sausages. The line was massive. This guy just pushed in front of everyone and ordered . After that he said he would take us to a cheese shop where they will let us try any cheese we want because we are with him. We turned up, and everyone can try to cheese. The general public had access to the cheese. Note, he was fired from this business After that we were taken to a toy shop for a quick walk around and we left. We have had enough by this point where I told him we need to finish this tour by 3 as I need to meet my cousin. . He told us we needed to get on a bus to get to the last point of the tour. He told us the bus comes every 5 mins, it took 15mins to come. While waiting for the bus he asked (nervously) people behind us if he was the ticket checker because that what he looked like. When the guy said no, he then said, don’t worry I do have a ticket. We got on the bus, he took us up the back and hid us as he didn’t buy a ticket. . We got off the bus and continued to the restaurant. He said it was a real German restaurant, real German people with real German waitresses. When we get there the waitresses couldn’t speak German, he wasn’t impressed. For somewhere the tour was meant to finish, there was no table booked for us. The waitresses wasn’t happy she had to give us a table that was already reserved. . When we sat down, he told us the tour was now over and that he could order a beer. Keep in-mind, I hardly spoke to this guy during the tour. Once we ordered he then said to me ‘Hopefully once you have some Schnitzel that I’ll liven up’. While he was drinking his beer, he then told us if we could write him a review as it will be good for him (he asked the wrong person) and that he couldn’t tell on him because the tour had finished. He then said if you’re going to backstab me, then don’t write the review. He then told us 1 beer and he is getting drunk and then sat there laughing to himself watching us eat. Finally, he got up on left Worst tour we have ever been on. Knew nothing about Berlin and ate hardly any food. A day we will never forget Oh and Germany is closed on a Sunday. 95% of shops are closed. So we wasted our Saturday with an idiot and spending Sunday watching Netflix I still want my money back for the BS tour

We expected to have 6 to 8 tastings per the description. However, we only had two. Most of our evening was spent on public transportation and waiting for orders. We went to an unsafe part of town to see “a pretty view” which was supposed to be a very short walk. It was not. Had I known the distance, I would not have agreed. Very unhappy with the tour!! Our tour guide was nice, but I also paid for more and was left dissatisfied. Very unusual for tours via Viator. I would like a partial refund for the lack of a complete tour, but I cannot contact Viator directly, and their refund option does not address my situation.
